You may be able to tell by the questions I asked her, they were a little random, but the answers I got were priceless! Rhys Millen will attempt to beat the current "Unlimited Class" World Record of 10:01.408 & the 10-minute barrier at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Last June, Rhys took a Hyundai Genesis coupe to a class record in the two-wheel drive Time Attack class with a 12:09.397. This year, Millen wants to take the overall record back from Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima, whose held the record since 2007, and bested Rod Millen's thirteen year old course record. Rhys Millen returned to Pikes Peak with the goal of setting the record up the 12.4-mile course and breaking the elusive 10-minute mark in the final year of the road comprising pavement and gravel. Unfortunately, the Hyundai Genesis RM580 brake issue forced Rhys into second place with a time of 10:09.24 Rhy's Dad, Rod Millen showed that he still had it with an impressive win in the 2WD competition.

Rhys Millen returns to the 89th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb to complete the job he set out last year: shattering the record in the "Unlimited" class. Although the current record still stands at 10:01.408, Rhys hopes that modifications and upgrades to the Red Bull-sponsored Hyundai Genesis RMR PM580, along with new tarmac portions of the course, will allow him to to claim victory at this year's race and finally break the 10-minute barrier. While Rhys Millen attempts to break the overall course record, his father will compete in the Time Attack 2WD class in an updated version of the Red Bull Hyundai Genesis Coupe that Rhys set a class record in two years ago. With five overall race wins and eight class wins under his belt, Rod Millen is considered Pikes Peak royalty by many. Making auto enthusiasts' wishes come true at this year's SEMA Show, Rhys Millen Racing's modified Genesis Coupe features Hyundai's most powerful engine under its hood -- the award-winning 5.0-liter Tau V8. The RM500 Genesis Coupe is a 450-horsepower machine with a distinct, production-ready look. This marks the fourth year of the partnership between RMR and Hyundai creating show-stopping vehicles for tuners and consumers alike. In addition to the Tau V8, the all-black Genesis Coupe receives a custom RMR stainless exhaust with GReddy rear section muffler and titanium tips, oil cooler and rear differential cooler. On June 27, 2010, Rhys Millen attempted to beat the current "Unlimited Class" World Record of 10:01.408 at the 88th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the "Race to the Clouds." For 10 years, it has been Rhys' dream to break the 10-minute barrier and this year he hoped to capture the elusive record and return it to the Millen name. This is look at his run and the challenges he faced in his custom built Genesis PM580: a 1850 pound, 750 horse power V6 designed specifically to conquer the 156 turns of this 12.52 mile course (of which this year, half is pavement) that begins at 9390 feet and finishes at the 14110 foot summit. The RMR-designed Art of Speed Genesis Coupe called for a vehicle with the visual impact to win awards at the 2008 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show while boasting sufficient performance to put the driver in the winners circle the following weekend. Backed by Rhys Millens reputation both on the track and in the aftermarket, Hyundai delivered its first prototype Genesis Coupe 2.0T to the RMR shop on August 8, allowing just 12 weeks of build time before the doors opened at SEMA in Las Vegas on November 4. A crew of six RMR employees promptly stripped the car to bare metal. At the same time, the crew began custom-fabricating new aftermarket parts and accessories for the Genesis Coupe which are certain to be among the first available in the aftermarket once Hyundais newest addition takes to the streets next year. Hyundai Motor America adds the Veloster coupe to its motorsports program with the help of champion race car driver Rhys Millen, who fabricated and will race the first 500-horsepower AWD Veloster rally car in the 2011 US Rallycross Championship. RMR and Hyundai are constructing a second Veloster rally car that will be a shared ride between rally champion Marcus Dodd and world record freestyle motorbike rider Robbie Maddison. Millen and Maddison will drive the Veloster rally cars at Summer X Games.
