Olympus OM-D E-M5 Micro Four Thirds Hands On
The 16 megapixel Live MOS Micro Four Thirds sensor is the crown jewel of the E-M5, and comes complete with five-axis image stabilization, allowing the sensor to shift up, down, forwards, backwards and diagonal to compensate for camera movement, enabling what Olympus reps describe as "a built-in Steadycam." Perhaps even more impressive, however, is the camera's autofocus system. Olympus claims that the E-M5 features the "world's fastest autofocus," of any camera -- yes, that even includes top-of-the-line DSLRs. We went on a quick indoor shoot with the cam and were incredibly pleased with the focusing system's performance -- subjects came into focus instantaneously, even in low-light. We can't confirm that Olympus claim, but this thing is definitely very, very fast.

Micro four thirds adaptor on Panasonic Lumix GH1 Test Videos
Using a Nikon mount to micro four thirds adaptor on the lumix GH1 camera. With manual aperture control lenses, there is no problem in using this set up. With a simple modification, explained in the video, you can use non manual aperture control lenses as well. The modification allows you to use some of the later generation lenses which are normally excluded from use with these simple adaptors. As there is no lectrical connection between the camera and lens via the adaptor, the camera is set to operate in manual mode, controlling overall sensitivity with the ISO speed control if the camera cannot set the gain (speed) control automatically with the lens aperture you have set. Micro four third adaptors are available for M42 thread lenses, Nikon, Canon and Olympus and give the effective doubling of the 35mm lens on the micro four thirds camera so for example the 300mm Nikkor lens becomes an effective 600mm lens!!

Using my simple aperture control modification, non manual nikon lenses can be utilised on the GH1 with a micro four thirds adaptor. This test video shows the resulting quality of the 70 - 300mm VR G lens at an effective 35mm focal length of 140 - 600mm.

Pixco Nikon G series to micro four thirds adaptor review
This adaptor has integral control ring which interfaces to the aperture control lever of the lens via a small pin attached to the inside of the ring. By adjusting the control ring you can set the aperture between fully open and fully closed. However there are no markings to denote which aperture has been selected. the engineeing quality is very good with no slackness in any of the mating surfaces. The control ring doesn't suffer creep. The only question is the black anodised finish inside the adaptor could have been matt blacked as the sheen may cause lack of contrast in ceratin situations, however this has not been validated as yet. cgi.ebay.com

Kipon EOS to Micro Four Thirds Adapter Test
Just a quick demo and some footage shot on the AF-100 with the Kipon EOS to Micro Four Thirds adapter. Until the Birger electronic mounts come out (taps foot impatiently) this is the only way we have to use Canon lenses with internal apertures like everyone's favorite L- series zooms and primes. Surprisingly, the adapter does really well! There was no vignetting until I closed the iris down past a full stop. That means that if you need any less light, you should be able to compensate with the camera's built in ND filters. It also gave me a lot of control over the depth of field. More than stopping the lens down? It looks to be a about a tie to me.

Boasting Panasonic's own nano surface technology, optical image stabilisation, aspherical and ED glass elements, Panny says its latest 12-35mm X series lens will give you better quality images than ever before. The Nano surface coating helps the latest lens combat reflection (which causes ghosting and lens flare) while the built-in zoom lever gives you quick and silent zooming. The new lens features Power OIS (Panasonic's image stabilisation), designed to take clear pictures in low-light conditions, and to make it easier for shaky hands to take clear photos.
