For the record, the original video had 4238658 Views. At the time of its demise, it was the Top-Rated YouTube Video of All Time. No shit. I will be posting Video #2 very soon, and thank you all so much for your support. ***********************

Merton Video #5 : Street Piano (8.10.10)
I traveled to Denver, Colorado, armed with 2 videocameras. This summer, the Downtown Denver Partnership installed several public pianos on the 16th St. Mall. I played for about 3 hours one night, and this video shows some of what happened. The solo piano snippets at the beginning and end are each parts of much longer improvised pieces. The video will look much better if you watch it at 720p resolution. I would ask that you always watch my videos Full-Screen and Loud. Check out Alma Desnuda at www.almaDmusic.com
Merton Video #7 : Montreal
SOLO PIANO SONG NOW AVAILABLE ON AMAZON AND ITUNES :: A full version of my piano song from the end of Video #7 is now available from Amazon - amzn.to , and from iTunes - bit.ly . It's called "The Montreal Song". I visited Montreal, Canada in February, to do some public piano interactions in various spots around the city. I had a great time, and met many wonderful people in the process. I also had the opportunity to work with a professional film production crew, in collaboration with Montreal FestiMania ( montrealfestimania.com ), and this is a video that they made from our time together. This is a little sample of the people and places I encountered along the way. In the future, I plan to release more material from this trip. This production would not have been possible without the efforts of these people Productions 1one: Production company Jean-René Parenteau: Co-Director and camera Yan Dal Santo: Co-Director and camera Nicolas Fransolet: camera Jean-Pascal Beaudoin: Technical Director Maude Beauregard: Editing Patrice Ouimet: Grip Jean-François Legentil: Grip Jonathan Rouxel: Conceptor Catherine Savard: Creative Director Flavie Desgagne-Ethier: Project Manager All music ©2011 Merton LLC

Paul Merton in India
Having conquered China, comedian Paul Merton now sets his sights on India, an astonishingly diverse country of one billion people. Paul intends to beat his own path around this enormous subcontinent, shunning the traditional tourist spots in favour of unexpected sights and surprising detours. "This is my India," he says. Confronted by the noise, traffic and swarms of people as he arrives in Delhi, a jet-lagged Paul cannot fail to be dazzled by his surroundings. "This country is overwhelming -- a dizzying mix of sight, sound and colour," he says. Over the course of his eight-week trip, Paul hopes to discover the heart of India: "It's a country of contradictions. On the one hand, you have a nuclear superpower; on the other hand, they worship snakes!" Paul's first stop is a finishing school where he learns the finer points of Indian etiquette, including essential tips such as always eating with the right hand and burping to show one's enjoyment of a meal. Afterwards, he meets his guide, Ruchira, a journalist with expert knowledge of India. Ruchira has a good inkling of what Paul might like to see, and takes him to visit a somewhat unusual airport. The airport in question boasts only one, battered old plane -- but Paul is relieved to discover this aircraft is not supposed to fly. In fact, it remains stationary on the ground while locals queue up to go on board. The flight attendants go through the motions of preparing for take-off, much to the delight of the 'passengers', for ...
Merton Video #10 : Impromptu for Piano & Mousetrap
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . First, watch the video full-screen. Then read the description. I had an uninvited mouse living in my house, and I decided that he had to leave. I thought it might be interesting to film an interactive piano piece, incorporating the catching of the mouse in a live trap. Technical notes: Everything is pretty much what it looks like. The only significant editing is the compression of time: the events in the video actually took about 15 minutes, so I removed some stretches of waiting around. There are no trick camera angles or split-screen shots. The song, "Impromptu for Piano & Mousetrap", is now available on: Spotify: spoti.fi Amazon: amzn.to iTunes: bit.ly All music and imagery ©2012 by Merton

At Long Last... My Interview with Merton, the Piano Chat Improv Guy
It was more than a year ago when Merton, the improvisational piano player, became an Internet sensation when he first appeared on Chatroulette playing piano and serenading the strangers he'd meet on the video chat website. His videos have attracted over 25000000 views on YouTube and he has performed in London, Montreal, and he now has a live, interactive, webcam show that airs weekly on Wednesdays at 10:00 PM ET called The Merton Show. Merton is a self-taught improvisational pianist who lives in the Colorado rockies. He's a quick-witted, friendly guy who conceals his true identity by wearing a green hoodie and fake horn-rimmed glasses. There had been some speculation that he was actually recording artist Ben Folds in disguise -- especially with Ben Folds' Chatroulette Piano Ode to Merton video -- but while the two have similarities in appearance and musical styles, they both disputed the claim in a recorded Public Service Announcement where they appeared together. I met Merton last year at NewTeeVee Live where he spoke about his experience as a web celebrity and how he planned to further develop and evolve his improvisational social and musical style. Merton says that he's played piano and done improvisational music for a long time, but Chatroulette gave him the mass exposure to become a web video phenomenon. Merton's advice to artists and performers to build their audience and expand their reach is to just do it. "Video is huge and I don't know if I can say anything that ...

Merton Video #6 : London : The Iain Lee Show on Absolute Radio
The Short Description: I was in London, and was a guest on Iain Lee's call-in show on Absolute Radio. I chatted with Iain, and took song and idea requests from his listeners. The Long Description: I was in England for 8 days to film an advert for T-Mobile. On 25th November 2010, I spent the day in Manchester, being filmed in the airport while playing piano and singing about thousands of random strangers as they came through the International Arrivals gate. That night, I flew back to London for Iain's radio show from 11pm to 1am. I didn't have time for dinner, so I quickly pounded a double-espresso and a large glass of wine at a restaurant across the street from the radio station. This video shows some of what happened next. Iain Lee has a regular cast of characters who listen and call in to his radio show. Many of them have perhaps undergone some sort of voluntary neuropharmacological alteration. These people called in to chat with us, to request songs for me to play, and to suggest ideas and stories for my spontaneous lyrics. Iain is a very sharp, very funny guy, and we hit it off immediately. This was one of the funnest evenings I have had in a long time, and was definitely one of the top highlights of my trip to England. Iain's producer, Eloise, keeps all of the technical details running smoothly, and serves as the witty co-host and switchboard operator with callers. The video will look much better if you watch it at 720p resolution. I would ask that you always watch ...
