In this lesson, students learn that customary units can be converted to metric units and metric units can be converted to customary units using the following conversion factors 1 mile = 1.6 kilometers, 1 liter = 2.1 pints, 1 inch = 2.54 centimeters, and so on. Students are then asked to solve problems using these conversion factors, such as 10 kilometers = ____ miles. Students are also asked to determine which customary unit of measurement and which metric unit of measurement are used to measure a given object. For example, milk in a bottle would be measured in gallons (customary) or in liters (metric).

www.scoobysworkshop.com I've been getting lots of requests for this because people have been having trouble figuring out how to use skinfold calipers. These are the cheapest and most accurate way to measure bodyfat, way more accurate than those electronic gadgets used at gyms. The reason its so important to know bodyfat accurately its the only way to know if that 10 pound increase on the scale is because of added fat or added muscle. If you dont have one of these, get yourself one! They are about $15. So you measure the skinfold thickness in 3 places. Halfway between your nipple and your armpit, 1" to the side of your belly button, and on the front of your thigh half way between the crease and your knee. Measure, dont guess, use a sharpie and mark. Measure when standing To measure the thickness, use your thumb and forfinger to make a "C", grab as big of a hunk as you can. Then squeeze the hunk till it hurts and pull. Place the caliper ends 1/4-1/2 of an inch away from your thumb and index finger, then take the reading within 5 seconds. Measure in the middle of the fold, not right next to your body, not out at the tip of the pulled skin - halfway. Measure each place 3 times in round robin and then take the average. Now before I tell you how to convert to bodyfat percentage, let me say that although its much more usefull than BMI, bodyfat percentage is still a pretty useless number. The mirror can tell you if you have 6-pack abs or not, you dont need to know your bodyfat ...

Differential Side Gear Backlash Measurement
Weber State University - Automotive Technology Department - Transmission Lab - Measuring transaxle front differential side gear backlash on a Toyota A245E transaxle. Too little or too much backlash can cause noise while turning corners. Backlash is typically adjusted with shims behind the differential side gears. This procedure is generic and will work for most transaxles as well as front and rear axles. It helps to have the axle shaft installed to hold the side gear centered in the differential case. How to Install a Window - Removal and Measurement
Replacement windows fit inside the existing window frame, so you only have to change out a few pieces to install new windows. Eastern Window Removal -- 1:06 If your window frame is soft from water damage, you may need to replace the frame. To find what size window you will need, measure the width at the top, middle and bottom. Also measure the height at the left, right and middle. For older windows, use a putty knife and pry bar to carefully remove the stops holding the window in the frame. Cut the balance cords for the bottom sash with a utility knife and allow the weights to fall. Lift out the bottom sash. Remove the parting stops. Lower the top sash and cut the balance cords. Remove the top sash. Then remove the balance cord pulleys. Raise the bottom sash. Remove the screws along the sides of the plastic stops and remove the stop. Lower the sash, cut the cords and remove it. Remove the top sash the same way and remove the remaining stops. For instructions on how to install the replacement window for houses with siding or a brick exterior, watch this video: Western/Southern Window Removal -- 2:55 If you have a stucco house with aluminum frame, start by measuring the width at the top, middle and bottom.
