Andy McKee (born April 4, 1979 in Topeka, Kansas) is an American fingerstyle guitarist, currently signed to the American record label Candyrat Records. His style of playing and his compositions have earned him a considerable international fanbase; in late 2006, a live performance of his signature song "Drifting" became a Featured Video on YouTube and MySpace, achieving over 35000000 views on the former to date and remaining one of its highest rated music clips. A handful of McKee's other songs have experienced lesser success on YouTube, such as "Rylynn" with over 17000000 views. Similarly, McKee's cover of "Africa" reached over 9000000 views before suddenly being removed by Candyrat Records.

"Adaptation." (2002) -- Screenplay Seminar Scene
This scene from 2002's "Adaptation." very well incorporates all clichés of the writing (or any creative) process: the urgent desire to express oneself, the inconfidence appearing when evaluating one's own work, and the apparently self-confident and emotionally strong "outside world": The amount of people gathered in this screenplay-writing seminar illustrates the masses of people wanting to "learn" to write in order to express their feelings - apparently a quite general human desire. The amount of people attending the seminar emphasizes the widespread desire and serves in its abundance to communicate the force of this need. Watch Nicholas Cage's slouched composure and body language, as he plays the humorously oversubscribed (screenplay) writer Charlie Kaufman - a man doubting every aspect of his own existence, and being extremely inconfident. This portrayal contrasts starkly with the (a few moments earlier) self-proclaimed "asshole" seminar teacher (Brian Cox playing screenplay writing guru Robert McKee). He shows much more self-confidence by his much louder voice, his body language (he only looks at the questioner every now and then while the Charlie Kaufman character needs to stare continuously at the teacher) and his improvisation of dramatical scenes. I finally got to work on this tutorial video, and hopefully that can help you guitar freaks out there ;-) HINTS: If you don have a Baritone guitar, we are even cause I dont either! You can tune your regular guitar to BEADF#B(standard tuning for a baritone guitar) with at least 12-56 gauge strings, and if there's too much buzzing, you may adjust the truss rod. It helps watching in full screen! Go step by step, when you get tired, take a break and come back fresh, I BET YOU CAN DO IT!!! ps: Next time I'll make the quality of the video better than this. When I realized the video was exceeding the maximum MB allowed by u tube the video was already made, so I had to reduce the quality in order to make it fit.

Tutorials for Rylynn and possibly Dreamcatcher to be released before Xmas (hopefully). Maybe more Mckee play-alongs or covers if I have time. Also started playing some Antoine Dufour. Possibly new covers one day... ----------------------- This time, I did a little video of Rylynn. The editing was just as painful as with Drifting, plus I recorded it on the sequencer to get better sound quality. The downside is, I had to do some playback, which is extremely difficult!!! Although I tried to ba faithful to the spirit of the original (Rylynn was a young friend of the McKee's who passed away prematurely),I adapted the song, which is now slightly shorter than the original. For those who listened to the original a thousand times (I think there are many of us), I hope you won't be disappointed. Feel free to leave your comments.
