May Day 2009
Fading in popularity since the late 20th century is the giving of "May baskets," small baskets of sweets and/or flowers, usually left anonymously on doorsteps. I left one on my grandma's doorstep, in Pine City, Minn. May 1, 2009, rang her doorbell and videotaped it. She found it and then came running after me to give me a kiss. That's when it cut out. Save for one year, I've given her a May basket since I was a little kid when I'd ride my bike to her house. I'm 31 now and still do it.

Thermomix 9 of 10 Varoma Steam Basket
Varoma is part of a series of video snippets taken during a Thermomix demonstration held at my house last weekend May 14 2010. The Varoma is a stream basket that is part of the Thermomix and is provided as a subsequent demo to the initial Thermomix demonstration that is provided to non-users of the Thermomix. I didn't give our Thermomix Consultant Judy any choice and she was very good natured about me sticking my phone camera into her face while she was talking us through the various stages of her Varoma demonstration. I'd like to thank her for this and I'd like to also strongly recommend that if you have any queries regarding this product to please contact Judy through me. This clip shows the Varoma steam basket in action. The varoma steam basket sits on top of the Thermomix. The steam passes from the top of the Thermomix into the baskets and gently cooks whatever food is placed in the two layers of the Varoma basket. www.superparents.com.au

Gabion basket
Gabions are cages, cylinders, or boxes filled with soil or sand that are used in civil engineering, road building, and military applications. For erosion control caged riprap is used. For dams or foundation construction, cylindrical metal structures are used. In a military context, earth or sand-filled gabions are used to protect artillery crews from enemy fire. In civil engineering a gabion wall is a retaining wall made of rectangular containers (baskets) fabricated of heavily galvanized wire, which are filled with stone and stacked on one another, usually in tiers that step back with the slope rather than vertically. The most common civil engineering use of gabions is to stabilize shorelines or slopes against erosion. Other uses include retaining walls, temporary floodwalls, to filter silt from runoff, for small or temporary/permanent dams, river training, channel lining. They may be used to direct the force of a flow of flood water around a vulnerable structure. Gabions are also used as fish barriers on small streams. URL:www.gabionbasketsbox.com E-mail: sales@gabionbasketsbox.com

Hanging Baskets - Petunia's !!!
In this video I show how to plant a hanging basket out, I have used general purpose compost and a plastic drinks bottle pierced with holes that is placed in the middle of the basket so when watered into the top of the bottle the water comes out evenly to the bottom of the basket. The plants used are standard mixed petunias and trailing purple, and white petunias , the trailers have been layered from the middle of the basket base and spread out evenly to the top side The standard petunias have been planted on the top of the basket, we have used slow release plant food in the compost, this was not shown on the video unfortunately. The basket liner is made by J Arthur Bowers and is a moss and wool mixture available from most good nurseries. The petunia's were supplied by Kindergarden Plants. Thanks for watching, please keep the comments coming in, dont forget to visit www.larchgardenservices.yolasite.com for more information. I will post more videos as time allows, currently Im very busy with gardening work.

Abenaki Black Ash Basket Demonstration
Abenaki Black Ash Basket Demonstration @ the 37th Annual Dartmouth Pow - Wow As noted on the the Vermont Arts Council website, Jesse Larocque's black ash baskets express the living tradition of his Abenaki ancestors. The life of a basket begins deep in the swamp where Jesse chooses the right tree that will be suitable for basket making. The ash is later hand pounded, shaved, and split in preparation for being woven in the traditional manner without machines or molds. Passing on the teachings through participation and guided practice is alive and well today and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. A true sense of mastery and accomplishment is felt by those who complete an Abenaki-style ash basket in a workshop setting."
