2011 West Virginia University Marching Band Armed Forces Salute
The concerts showcase the band's full complement of brass, woodwinds, percussion, flags and feature twirlers. No celebration of our freedom can be complete without a tribute to the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much to preserve and protect our country. Numa Numa Guy Conducts MSU Marching Band Halftime Show
Gary Brolsma (aka the Numa Numa Guy) joins in during the MSU Marching Band "Technology" Halftime show. The show had 3 concepts, the iPod(U2 song), the Cell Phone(famous ringtone melodies), and YouTube. Gary stepped in on the YouTube part of the show and conducted "Dragostea din tei" (the Numa Numa Song). This was during the MSU v Iowa halftime show on 10/24/09.

When Johnny Comes Marching Home
Noted Bandmaster Patrick Gilmore wrote the lyrics for this tune when his band was attached to the 24th Massachusetts Infantry. The tune is the same as the Irish song "Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ye" but there is some dispute as to which came first. "Johnny" did not refer to "Johnny Reb" but most likely Gilmore's future brother-in-law, a Union army officer. The story behind the song is on the Library of Congress website. lcweb2.loc.gov The first page of the song (Louis Lambert was a pseudonym of Gilmore's) bears a dedication at the top "to the army and the navy of the Union". This was not a Confederate song and more than a few people on youtube need to learn how to do some very simple research. library.duke.edu

Republic Day is held on the 26th of January each year, to mark the day that Indian became a republic in 1950. The Republic Day of India commemorates the date on which the Constitution of India came into force replacing the Government of India Act 1935 as the governing document of India on 26 January 1950. The date 26 January was chosen to honour the memory of the declaration of independence of 1930. It is one of the three national holidays in India, and while the main parade, Republic Day Parade takes place at the Rajpath, in the national capital New Delhi, where the President views the parade, state capitals also have their state celebrations.the parade starts from the rasina hill near the rashtrapati bhavan,along the rajpath,past the gate of India and onto the red fort in the old quarters of the city.
