Ella Fitzgerald - Manhattan
Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Rodgers and Hart Songbook (1956) Summer journeys to Niag'ra and to other places aggra- vate all our cares. We'll save our fares! I've a cozy little flat in what is known as old Manhattan we'll settle down right here in town! We'll have Manhattan the Bronx and Staten Island too. It's lovely going through the zoo! It's very fancy on old Delancy street you know. The subway charms us so when balmy breezes blow to and fro. And tell me what street compares with Mott Street in July? Sweet pushcarts gently gli-ding by. The great big city's a wonderous toy just made for a girl and boy. We'll turn Manhattan into an isle of joy! We'll go to Yonkers Where true love conquers In the whiles And starve together dear, in Chiles We'll go to Coney And eat baloney on a roll In Central Park we'll stroll Where our first kiss we stole Soul to soul And "My Fair Lady" is a terrific show they say We both may see it close, some day The city's glamour can never spoil The dreams of a boy and goil We'll turn Manhattan into an isle of joy!
The Manhattan-Lets just kiss and say goodbye.
The Manhattan-Lets just kiss and say goodbye. The Manhattans This has got to be the saddest day of my life. I called you here today for a bit of bad news. I wouldn't be able to see you anymore Because of my obligation, and the ties that you have. We've been meeting here everyday, And since this is our last day together. I wanna hold you just one more time. When you turn and walk away, don't look back. I wanna remember you just like this Let's just kiss and say goodbye. I had to meet you here today, There's just so many things to say. Please don't stop me till I'm though, This is something I hate to do. We've been meeting here so long. I guess what we've done was wrong. Please, darling don't you cry, Let's just kiss and say goodbye.. Many months have passed us by. I'm gonna miss you, I can't lie. I've got ties and so do you. I just think this is the things to do. It's gonna hurt me, I can't lie. Maybe you'll meet, you'll meet another guy. Understand me, won't you try, try, try..... Let's just kiss and say goodbye. Maybe you'll find, you'll find another guy. Let's just kiss and say goodbye, pretty baby. Please don't cry. Understand me, won't you try? Let's just kiss and say goodbye...

Kings Of Leon - Manhattan
Caleb Followill (lead singer, rhythm guitar) Nathan Followill (drums) Jared Followill (bass) Matthew Followill (lead guitar) Kings of Leon are a young rock band from Tennessee. They consist of three brothers -- Caleb (lead singer, rhythm guitar), Nathan (drums), and Jared (bass) Followill -- plus Matthew Followill (lead guitar), their first cousin. As the music on their 'Kings of Leon' EP debut for RCA Records shows, their songs teem with primal emotions and rangy rhythms noise sensed as sanctuary, friction felt as release, honesty jumped on for all it's worth because it's the only bankable road to salvation. Kings of Leon -- so-called because "Leon" is the name of both the Followills' father and grandfather -- are, in general, a hauntingly unusual yet dead classic band.

Manhattan shoebox apartment: a 78-square-foot mini studio
A couple years ago, Manhattan architect Luke Clark Tyler, lived in a 96 square foot apartment. Instead of upsizing with his latest move, he chose to squeeze himself and his belongings into even less space. Luke now lives in a 78 square foot shoebox studio. It's too narrow to fit a bed lengthwise, but using a bit of plywood and 2x4s he built his own custom bed/couch. He keeps his clothes, plates, microwave, books, spices and shaving and cleaning supplies in a large built-in cabinet. The rest of his kitchen is a tiny refrigerator that helps hold up his desk (he works for home as a contract architect). While he admits he misses being able to cook a real meal- though he's vegetarian so eats a lot of vegetables and nuts and can even microwave eggs- Luke doesn't see living small as a sacrifice. He loves living in the heart of New York City- his place is in Midtown Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen- and he likes paying just $750/month (cheaper than the shared housing he could find in the area). Tiny Origami apartment in Manhattan unfolds into 4 rooms
In 2005, third-grade-teacher Eric Schneider bought as big as an apartment as he could afford in Manhattan. He paid $235000 for a 450-square-foot studio with a tiny kitchen. Then he let architects Michael Chen and Kari Anderson of Normal Projects design a way to pack more density into his small space. In order to fit more apartment in a small footprint, they created an object that's bigger than furniture, but smaller than architecture and that morphs with the changing activities of a day. It's a large, blue, oversized cabinet that houses all of the walls/bed/tables/shelving/closets needed for at least 4 full-sized rooms. By continuing to unfold, or fold differently, Schneider can create a bedroom with accompanying built-in nightstand and closets, but an office plus library, a guest bedroom, and a living room. Or close it up entirely and simply flip down the small bar and the room becomes entertaining space for a dozen. The Normal Projects architects called their creation the Unfolding Apartment, though given Schneider's affinity for the Japanese sense of space (he spent his first year post-college living and teaching in Japan), it could as easily be called the Origami Apartment. In total, Schneider spent $70000 total remodeling his new apartment and this includes not just the cabinet, but the bathroom renovation, all cabinetry, kitchen appliances, furniture and dishes. In this video, Chen shows us his custom cabinet of rooms and Schneider unfolds a few of his favorite ...

Death Cab For Cutie - Marching Bands Of Manhattan
Lyrics: If I Could Open My Arms And Span The Length Of The Isle Of Manhattan I'd Bring It To Where You Are Making A Lake Of The East River And Hudson If I Could Open My Mouth Wide Enough For A Marching Band To March Out They Would Make Your Name Sing And Bend Through Alleys And Bounce Off all the Buildings I Wish We Could Open Our Eyes To See In All Directions At The Same Time Oh, What A Beautiful View If You Were Never Aware Of What Was Around You And It Is True What You Say That I Live Like A Hermit In My Own Head But When The Sun Shines Again I'll Pull The Curtains And Blinds To Let The Light In Sorrow Drips Into Your Heart| Through A Pinhole| Just Like A Faucet That Leaks | And There Is Comfort In The Sound | X4 But While You Debate | Half Empty Or Half Full | It Slowly Rises Your Love Is Gonna Drown | Your Love Is Gonna Drown (x4) Your Love Is Gonna

New York City - Video Tour of SoHo, Manhattan
Welcome to another New York Habitat ( www.nyhabitat.com ) video! Today, we are going to get a little taste of one of New York's most famous neighborhoods, SoHo. The others video tours of New York Habitat are available, so feel free to discover other areas of NYC such as Times Square http or Greenwich Village www.youtube.com You'll find SoHo in southern Manhattan just to the south of Greenwich Village. The boundaries of the heart of SoHo are roughly Houston Street to the north, Canal Street to the south, Crosby Street to the east and 6th Ave to the west. SoHo is a famous neighborhood to be the most fashionable areas in New York with its loft-style apartments, art galleries, and its diverse shopping. SoHo's Architecture and landmarks: Before we get into the modern day delights of SoHo, let's step back in history a bit. What is fascinating about this neighborhood is that it is the largest surviving cast-iron building district in the world. Many commercial buildings along Broadway and Spring Street feature this type of construction. Cast-iron's fire-resistant properties and strength made it possible to construct large building façades at less cost than comparable stone fronts. A great example of SoHo's cast-iron buildings is 28-30 Greene Street. Built in 1872, it's known as the "Queen of Greene Street". As you might know, SoHo is also well known for its loft style apartments. In the late 1800s, SoHo became an industrial district where workers toiled in dangerous conditions ...
