Hi guys, the IT file is available: www.surasshu-sound.com Last month at GDC, I met Surasshu, a game composer/sound designer and friend who I knew of for chiptune music. I'd been curious about blending piano with chip sounds for awhile, so we decided to collaborate, starting with "Mabe Village" from Link's Awakening. The whole process of this collab was way too fun - I cracked up every time we talked, and couldn't keep a straight face in most of my video outtakes, either. Even in this video, I still end up with a big goofy smile! Mabe Yo Mabe (Ndombe Opetum) - Franco & le TPOK Jazz 1977
In the picture, Franco is still playing his Fender Jaguar, but I think this was recorded after he had just made the switch to the Gibson Les Paul. If the story of this song is similar to that of Lisolo Ya Adamo Na Nzambe by Ntesa Dalienst, Franco might have intervened here. In the case of that song, Franco asked Ntesa: Is it OK if I intervene? And then he improvised his whole part right there in the studio. I have a live version of this song, probably recorded before this studio version, without Franco and I find it actually pretty boring. But this is a masterpiece. From the first to the last note, Franco is just great. You can hear the difference: Ndombe, who really hasn't got the natural gift to squeeze as many syllables into a bar as he needs to get in there. And THAT was actually the written part. And then Franco takes over, and no matter how many syllables the improvised line may have, he makes it sound completely natural... it all JUST fits. Besides Ndombe's and Franco's voices, we hear Youlou's and Josky's. Because of Youlou's presence, this can be no later than 1977. Ndombe's pic is probably from eight or nine years later than the recording, the pic of Franco is at least a year older than the recording.

In 1978, Franco released this double LP, which seemed to be aiming at the European/US markets. Much of the material on it had been released as singles in Zaire the year before. This may not apply the two Franco compositions on it. Those are Oh! Miguel and Bomba, Bomba Mabe. I don't know in what form, if at all, Bomba, Bomba, Mabe was released in Zaire, but I do know it was already played during the Télé Zaire show of late 1975: www.youtube.com Vocals: my bet would be Franco, Wuta Mayi, Josky Kiambukuta, Lukoki Diatho. Ok, I've been witing soo long for the perfect footage for this!! i wanted this whole video to go with the theme "maybe it's not my weekend, but it's gonna be my year". sooo i had a really bad day a week or two ago. i fell off twice and was not focased at all. puzzle didnt want to jump and the day just wasnt going well. those clips are in the brownish color. then i contrasted it with clips of extreme awesomeness :] those clips are from the show, and they're in bright colors. i want NO crits of this. its supposed to be a video half full of bloopers. THTS THE POINT. and, when i say bloopers, i mean BLOOPERS. not just "woops" moments like taking four strides in a combination when it was measured for three, or being on the wrong lead. no. . .those are mistakes. bloopers are falls, run outs, refuseals, and other moments that make you just want to cry and sell your horse. everyone has moments like this. . .everyone. i don't think you'll meet one pro rider who hasnt been thru a time like this. so i dont want one comment saying "your a suckish rider" or "i never have those moments". u will be blocked and flagged :] thanx **TOWHOM IT MAY CONCERN @ YOU TUBE** I do not own or claim to own the audio content!
