Building Megaobjects in Minecraft

This is the beginning framework of the Enterprise - D in Minecraft ----- I didn't think this would go viral so quickly! It's not even done and on top of that, the Minecraft servers are down so I can't put it up... Some quick answers to some questions. Thanks for all the warm kudos. I'll take some time to tell you guys about how I made the ship and what my plans are for it. I've always wanted to make a 1:1 scale model of the Enterprise-D. Even when I was a kid, I thought how cool it would be to build the ship and live in it. One project I embarked on about a year ago was to build a 1:1 scale model of the enterprise in Sketchup. I got pretty far too. Sadly, my hard drive blew and I lost six months of work. The only thing I had was my original framework and It was just too painful to start over. One of the things that was not lost was the deck plans and a nice computer-friendly vector format, converted from the Whitefire plans (Not the Okuda ones). The plans are pretty rough, but workable. One day I need to go through and clean them up. The Minecraft world uses 1m^3 blocks, ans so, I simply converted my already scaled plans into a format that minecraft could take and imported each deck in batch, leaving 4 spaces in between for walls The original Enterprise is 642.5 Meters x 467.0 Meters x 137.5 Meters. This is about 3m per deck. Sadly, with the 1m deck you have to walk on, that only leaves 2m left over for hallway space. As your character is only 1.7m tall, you will be ...

The Swell Season covers Neutral Milk Hotel

It's not often--never, to be exact--that we have Oscar winners in our office, but we were thrilled that Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, aka The Swell Season, agreed to stop by and cover Neutral Milk Hotel's "Two-Headed Boy" for Undercover. The duo has been riding an incredible wave since starring together in the film Once, for which they won the Best Original Song Oscar in 2008. They brought a full band to rock through the song, and even added something extra at the end--a bit of Neutral Milk's "The King Of Carrot Flowers Pts. 2-3." After they left our little room, The Swell Season headed out to a sold-out concert at Ravinia, then flew to a sold-out show at the Hollywood Bowl and an appearance on The Tonight Show. Menaka instigates the family against Pratigya by criticizing her method of upbringing Samar. Shakti is enraged with Pratigya for humiliating him in front of his family and friends at his son's birthday party. Sumitra fuels Sajjan's ire for Pratigya by manipulating his ego and wounded pride. Sajjan summons Pratigya to punish her for humiliating his family at the party and disobeying him. He assigns the responsibility of Samar's upbringing to Menaka. Sumitra sees Samar playing with Krishna and Pratigya in their room. She accuses Pratigya of making excuses to control Samar's life. Samar refuses to leave Pratigya. Krishna protests when Sumitra forcefully drags Samar to Shakti's room to hand him over to Menaka. Sumitra tells Krishna and Pratigya to have a child of their own and to leave Samar alone.

Krishna stops Pratigya from going to Shakti's room to check up on Samar. Chandu calls up Krishna and asks him to save Meera from some thugs. Krishna rescues her and yells at her for waiting outside his restaurant all day to get his attention. Pratigya and Menaka try to keep Samar away from each other. Meera distributes gifts to the children who eat in Krishna's restaurant to promote his business. Menaka threatens to fire Piyasia for consulting Pratigya regarding Samar's likes.
