Gotta admit, as a Milwaukee kid there is something about the throaty roar of a Harley Davidson that warms the cockles. But the all-electric Light Cycle modeled after the machines in Tron makes a head-snapping case for whisper-quiet technology. It is the creation of Parker Brothers Choppers out of Texas and Evolve Motorcycles, a made-in-America startup building electric scooters that are actually a zippy good time. Since the latest Lithium ion batteries are so small (thanks, cell phone engineers!), motorcycle designers can go nuts with new concepts and this $55000 baby is proof. But the Parker Brothers still love their internal combustion, so we also checked out their grown-up Green Machine, a modern spin on the old Big Wheel rival built around a Harley Davidson engine. Lightbike 101
Update, it's 2-19-2012 as I am writing this. The end of 2011 was a little rough for LightBike. The servers were down several times, sometimes for weeks making online play impossible. Leader board was disrupted with some font hack making most of it unreadable. I had written LB off for dead. But just last week I noticed an update for LB, all it said was bugs fixed... I downloaded the update and tried to find a game, nobody on. So this weekend I had a few minutes to kill and was able to find games relatively quickly on Friday night and Saturday morning. Just some zero point scrubs but it was still encouraging that people were still playing this game. I also noticed when one player left I was awarded the win!?!?! Could the leaver exploit actually be fixed??? Review of Ultra Light Bike Mirror by D+D Oberlauda
Ultra Light BIke Mirror by D+D Oberlauda. Made in Germany. About $25US This is a very light cycling mirror with mutliple mounting possibilities due to its flexible mounting system. Because it is so light, vibration is kept to a minimum. Adjustment is easily accomplished by a ball and joint which makes manual adjustment very easy. Installation is a breeze. The mirror surface is convex which causes distortion of the field of view making judging distance a bit difficult. But it does fulfill its main purpose of letting you know of approaching traffic. Of the many mirrors I've tried, I like this very much.

LightBike For iPhone/iPod Touch Brings The TRON Goodness
In this video, I review a game called LightBike for iPhone and iPod Touch. It is available for $0.99 for a limited time but has a regular price of $2.99. LightBike supports 1 or 2 players on a single device or Wifi mode on multiple devices on a LAN. The folks behind LightBike claim that they will be bringing internet support soon. Controls are fairly simple for LightBike: You tap the left and right sides of the screen to move in either direction and you tap the middle of the screen to accelerate. The gameplay is responsive and works as advertised. I can imagine a really fun experience once internet play is added. I recommend LightBike for all you TRON fans, but it can also be a great experience for those who have never heard of TRON. Take care!

Light Bike is a fast paced game in which the player controls a bike which emits a trail of light. If any other player (up to 2 on the same device, 4 if you have a second iphone or ipod touch and a wifi network) hits the light emitted by one of the other players' bikes they are eliminated. If you think there could have been a better techniques by all means share. We can all learn. Poly boost and tools from Max 2010 and on would have sped up the process but you work with what you have.

Lightbike Online Tips n' Tricks

Tutorial - Dynamic Tron Lightcycle Trail in Cinema 4D
Combining ideas from my original Tron Lightcycle animation and adapting a 3DS Max technique from this tutorial (www.youtube.com from m0n0RAIL, I was able to create a dynamic lightcycle trail using Cinema 4D's Mograph. I used Cinema 4D 12 for this tutorial but this should work in 11.5 or any Cinema 4D with the Mograph module. This video was for the Iphone game "lightbike online", be sure to see my LightBike 101 video youtu.be People have asked me how I make my U-turns so tight. Well, this is how I do it. This technique is useful when you have walled off from your opponent. At that point it's all about who can live the longest. The tighter the turns the longer you can live. I have found this pattern superior and safer then a spiral. This trick is also useful if you need to make U-turn and don't have much space.

TRON - light cycle
These light cycles were part of a video game designed by Kenvin Flynn. He created several other games after hours at the company Encom. Unfortunately his work was stolen by Ed Dillinger then annexed by the Master Control program. Now, in a virtual world ruled by the MPC, renegade programs are forced to combat in cycles through deadly light mazes in a game to the death. The light cycles were featured in the 1982 movie Tron. They were originally designed by Syd mead. This 3d model was created by John Picha.
