U2 - Lemon - Zoo TV: Live From Sydney
One of only 10 live performances of the oddest song on their oddest album (Zooropa) - masterfully done. Bono is dressed up as one of his Zoo TV alter-ego's, in this case the washed-up yet stylish, pseudo-British Mr. MacPhisto - a cross between the devil and a man who had lost his soul somewhere down the line and represented those outmoded stars who end up performing in Vegas. The name originates from a humanoid devil formed creature known as MePhistopheles. I call Zooropa their oddest album because the songs on it themselves are a far cry to anything U2 have ever released before or since - think Daddy's Gonna Pay, think Numb, the Wanderer, even the title track itself. Throughout their career in music U2 have been synonymous with Edge's distinctive chords and Bono's passion reaching out in his voice. It's however abandoned in Lemon. Just try playing it to someone who doesn't know it - I guarantee they'll never recognise it as a U2 song. Bono's falsetto and Edge's tremolo mean that it's on another level to your typical U2 song.

RT: bit.ly Facebook: on.fb.me Lemon Cakes and Milk of the Poppy Lemon Cakes: 1/2 cup white sugar, plus additional for dusting 2 eggs 3 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon all-purpose flour 2/3 cup buttermilk 2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice (fresh is best) Zest of 1 1/2 to 2 lemons, finely chopped Pinch of salt 1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Butter and sugar 6 ramekins. Sift together the sugar, flour, and salt and set aside. 2. Beat 2 egg whites until you achieve soft peaks. Set aside. 3. In a large bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, lemon juice, lemon zest, and 2 egg yolks. Slowly whisk in the flour mixture and then fold in the egg whites until no white remains. 4. Divide the batter among the ramekins. Prepare a water bath (put ramekins in a pan and heat a pot of water. Place the ramekins in the pan and fill the water until you cover 1/3 to 1/2 of the ramekins. Cover entire pan with aluminum foil.) 5. Bake for 25 minutes and uncover. Bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until cakes are golden brown. Remove from water bath and let cool for a couple minutes before unmolding. Marinade-Lemon Herb
This wonderful all purpose marinade uses lemon, garlic, and olive oil for its base. It is perfect for marinating any type of seafood, such as shrimp scampi and works great as a base for grilled Mahi Mahi or your favorite tilapia fish recipes. Use it on chicken or pork to brighten up the flavors while grilling. Just soak your meat of choice in the marinade for 30 minutes and prepare as desired. You'll find this an indispensable recipe in your kitchen. Marinade Recipe: 1/2 cup cilantro leaves, parsley or tarragon 1 lemon 1/8 cup white wine, optional 3/4 cup olive oil 1 teaspoon garlic puree or 1 clove minced garlic Roughly chop the cilantro and carefully remove the zest (outer yellow peel from the lemon). The zest adds a lot of flavor to this marinade. Next, cut the lemon in half and add lemon juice to a mixing bowl. Add the wine, chopped cilantro and lemon zest, followed by the garlic. Slowly pour the olive oil into the marinade and whisk quickly until it starts to thicken. This is called an emulsion. When the marinade has thickened, let it sit about 30 minutes and then pour it over your meat.
