The flagship title of the PixelForce NES de-makes is Valve's Left 4 Dead. This game play footage gives you an idea of what the project looks like in action and how it plays. As you can see, it's a standard top-down 4 directional action/shooter. Remade in the NES retro style, the resolution is at 256 x 240 and features 16 colors and a 4 sound channel soundtrack. Now, let's just get this out of the way.... Q: Is this just an animation or an actual game? A: An actual game. It will be available for free download on PC around January 4th, 2010. Q: I only see one "special infected." Will there be more? A: Yes. All 5 special infected appear in this game regularly. Q: How far along are you currently? A: As of November 15th, I am completed with the first "mission: No Mercy" as well as most of the core game play mechanics. Q: Does Valve know about this? And would they approve? A: No, Valve doesn't know about it yet, but I'm sure (with their love of community creations) that they will find this mildly amusing at worst, and hilarious at best. Q: Will this version have all of the campaigns from the original game? A: Yes. All 5 maps of all 4 campaigns will be present in the final product. ack in 1972, Wes Craven's feature-film debut The Last House on the Left pushed more than a few puritanical buttons, but it was a scene featuring a girl pissing on demand that seemed to spark the most controversy. Some 30 years after its original theatrical release, this schlocky extrapolation of Ingmar Bergman's The Virgin Spring is still the definitive horror-film-as-cautionary-tale. Dr. William Collingwood (Gaylord St. James) and his wife Estelle (Cynthia Carr) smother their daughter Mari (Sandra Cassel) with listen-young-lady care before the 17-year-old heads off to a Bloodlust concert with Manhattanite best friend Phyllis Stone (Lucy Grantham) in tow. Craven evokes the innocence of the love generation via hippie songs, a peace-sign necklace, and a carefree stroll through the woods (it's there that Mari and Phyllis compare cup sizes and discuss romantic love). When the girls go looking for marijuana, they're kidnapped, tortured, and killed by a group of Mansonesque escaped cons. It's the ultimate Vietnam allegory, except there's no room for peace here, just war. Craven heightens the dramatic tension by expertly cutting back and forth between the Collingwoods' happy suburban home and the Stillo gang's hike through the woods. I recently had contact with the director, Jim Yager, and he provided some background on this amazing work of art. Jim: "It was inspired when I saw Na Lei Hulu I Ka Wekiu perform their choreography of this song at KQED for an event. It was one of those lightning strike moments when I saw the whole film produced in my mind's eye as they were dancing gracefully in front of a black curtain. It was just plain serendipity ..." "We filmed Hula SF just a few weeks after 9/11 in 2001. We had been making production plans since mid-summer, and had delayed the production a couple of times as their was so much fear and uncertainty in the air here in the city. We finally spent two days with the dancers in all the locations you see in the video in early October, and I will never forget the response from those watching along the sidelines as we filmed. Tears of joy filled their eyes as Mr Bennett's song permeated the air, and the dancers swayed and told the story with their hands. It was a great emotional release for all of us, I think, and a reminder that their was still simple beauty and romance in a world that had been so tilted off its axis. Classic Game Room HD reviews LEFT 4 DEAD for Xbox 360, also available for PC. From Valve, the brilliant group of humans who brought us Portal and Half Life 2, comes Left for Dead! Zombies, zombies, rah rah rah! It's 28 Days Later meets a video game made to feel like 28 Days Later with excellent controls and 4-player gameplay. Released in 2008 Left 4 Dead has set the gold standard for 4 player co-op shooters over Xbox Live where teamwork and group zombie-slaughter is the name of the game. Choose from one of four characters, stock up on some health and weapons and plow your way through four levels chock full of zombies, witches, smokers and tanks. Like many popular Xbox 360 video games, once the sequel (Left for Dead 2) was released the price of the original fell below NES game cartridge levels and can be easily had anywhere today for the cost of a pizza. Left 4 Dead 2: Funny Moments of Getting Owned Part 1
Here it is. The much anticipated L4D2 Funny Moments of Getting Owned series has begun. Much of this first episode was actually my first time playing through each of the campaigns and I tried to include as much good game play footage as I could. Left 4 Dead 2: Versus Gameplay New Infected Tips and Tricks
Using the Left 4 Dead 2 demo, I was able to record some versus footage of the new Left 4 Dead 2 infected. I added some tips I picked up from playing after about a week so if I got some facts wrong its because this was early on. I was able to play as the new infected using a plugin a modder made on the Steam forums, *I DID NOT MAKE THIS PLUGIN* There's a video with more detail about it here: www.youtube.com From my playing I've decided the Jockey is my #1 favorite and the Charger is #2 Jockey because of his insane cackling and awesome ability to control players and the Charger for just generally being able to pick up a survivor and smash them into the roof above them.
