This is something that Wendy Sherman, undersecretary of state, warned about when harsh sanctions were passed by the senate last week. She said "there is absolutely a risk that in fact the pre ice of oil would go up, which would mean that Iran would in fact have more money to fuel its nuclear ambitions, not less." Is this an example of wrong-headed thinking by the US and the West? What good will this do if china is still buying Iranian oil? We ask economist Stephen Leeb what the effect of sanctions would be on the price of oil, and if this would actually work in Iran's favor. We also ask Dr. Leeb to comment on the similarities, or rather the differences, between the 1970's commodities and price inflation, and what we are facing in this decade. Will we see wage inflation, or will prices just increase for consumers, but stagnate for workers?

Dr. Stephen Leeb, investment advisor and author of The Oil Factor and Red Alert, says a resource war is going on and the US is losing out to China. While US fights wars China to secure oil, China buys up resources with contracts. Leeb says US checkbook pretty thin for this kind of diplomacy and a like a frog being boiled in water doesn't know what's going on. Meanwhile, as the Federal Reserve meets this week, Leeb says more money printing means gold could accelerate from here.

Steve Leeb Points Out The Fallacies of Peter Schiff's Senseless Liquidationist Theories
In this October 2008 special edition of CNN Money, the topic is about whether to pass TARP and bail out the banks and AIG etc. 1st point in which Steve Leeb was right and Peter Schiff was wrong is whether the bail outs would produce positive returns for the government. There is no doubt about this now - all the major banks have paid down their loans and the US government is making a tidy profit in the financial services firms they bought into eg Citigroup Steve Leeb then points out the fallacies of Peter Schiff's proposed liquidationist solutions (eg stop bail outs / government intervention and let all of these firms fail) and the systemic and national interest risks involved. Ultimately, what is most interesting is Steve Leeb's 100% accurate read of Peter Schiff - that he is a charlatan with nothing but hot air rhetoric - and proceeds to show him up in that light during the show.

What Steve Leeb says in the interview is about one of the most apt descriptions of Peter Schiff. He says "I'm just talking facts Peter, I know you get upset when people talk facts. I know you don't like trends, I know you don't like numbers, I know you don't like facts.." That basically sums up Peter Schiff's entire plethora of arguments, it is nothing but hot air rhetoric that is not backed by any empirical data or analysis. I have never seen a Peter Schiff written article that contains well laid out data, charts, analysis etc. In the closing stages of this clip, Steve presses Peter Schiff to answer one simple question: "Is there any example of a country since the 1930s which has come out of a depression without massive government stimulation?" Of course, Peter Schiff has no answers and just goes off on a tangent, which prompts Steve to say "You have a remarkable ability not to answer the question". Classic.

Holon certainly has a heavier, darker vibe going on, which I only crave on rare occasions. I love the textures and layers that occur just after 4 minutes into the piece.
