Bomba Estereo - "La Cumbia Sicodélica": SXSW 2012 Showcasing Artist
After eight years of career, Bomba Estereo consolidated themselves as the independent band from Colombia with the most international projection. In 2010 alone, the band performed at more than forty cites in Europe, Asia, Latin America and the US and executed overall sixty performances that lead them to obtain the recognition for the "The Best Band in the World", an award granted by the Culture Channel and Global Music MTV3. These accomplishments are the result of the continuous work of Simon Mejia, who began his musical process back in 2003 with the band AM 770 -- Simon Hernandez, Diego Cadavid, Javier Fonseca-, a project that he would later propel by himself and re launch as Bomba Estereo in 2006 with their first album called "Vol. 1". For this production, Simon searched for different lead singers seeking to include their collaborations in some of the songs. He then met Liliana Saumet, fomer lead singer of Mister Gomes en Bombay, who participated in "Huepaje", the promotional single of the record. Now with "Vol. 1" out, the sound of the single would shape the music of Bomba Estereo into a version originally sang by MC Al Roc from Asilo 38 over the track "Corinto", which Li Saumet would later give the final touch transforming it into the famous hit "Fuego". When "Vol. 1" was finished, Simon flew to New York to the most well known event of Latin alternative music: the Latin Alternative Music Conference -- LAMC-, where he signed a digital distribution deal of the album with ...

Thousands of fans poured into the Vive Latino main stage on March 24 and waited over six hours for Café Tacvba to play a medley of classics and current hits. Singer Ruben had an accident performing with his other group Hoppo! a few days prior to Vive Latino and thus had to walk with the aid of a cane. But he was still jumping onstage.

Los Rakas - "Soy Raka": SXSW 2011 Showcasing Artist
There are groups that come along and change the way we listen, appreciate and connect to music. Hailing from Panama but now residing in California, Los Rakas blends Hip-Hop, Plena, Reggae and Dancehall music with Spanish and English lyricism creating songs that leave your head noddin' and body rockin.'
