The Last Days of Disco - CRITERION - OFFICIAL TRAILER
Now on DVD! More info at www.Image-Entertainment.com THE LAST DAYS OF DISCO brings to a close American cinema raconteur extraordinaire Whit Stillman's unofficial trilogy about the neuroses of the young and upscale. Following Metropolitan and Barcelona, this is a clever and sparkling return to the nighttime party scene in early eighties Manhattan. At the center of Stillman?s roundelay of revelers are the icy, commanding Charlotte (Kate Beckinsale) and the demure, pragmatic Alice (Chloe Sevigny), by day toiling as publishing house assistants, and by night looking for romance and entertainment at a premier, Studio 54?like club. Brimming with Stillman's trademark dry humor, The Last Days of Disco is an affectionate yet unsentimental look at the end of an era.

Following the release of tracks on their own Bad Taste imprint compilations, they showed their melodic side on a recent single for Hospital Records ('Full Circle/Skyline'), before unveiling their true colours for their proper debut single. And what a debut: with a razor-edged riff slashing throughout series of disco loops, 'Last Days Of Disco' has been annihilating dancefloors for the last few months in the hands of Andy C, Hype and all main players, and the subject of plenty of enthusiastic posts online. www.facebook.com www.ukfmusic.com http

Jennifer Beals In 'The Last Days of Disco'
The Last Days of Disco follows former college classmates and current colleagues Alice & Charlotte as they develop new friendships and relationships. Alice fancies advertising executive Jimmy, but he likes Charlotte. Lawyer Tom is interested in Alice, as are Jimmy's friend Des, the assistant manager of the disco, and, later on, Des' friend Josh, an assistant district attorney. Both Alice and the opinionated, assertive Charlotte hold day jobs as entry-level editorial associates at a small book publisher. With Holly as a third roommate, the trio rents a railroad flat in the Manhattan's Yorkville neighborhood. Charlotte throws dinner parties in an effort to solidify a social circle as an alternative to "the ferocious pairing off" around her. (Jennifer plays Nina Moritz, one of Des's female conquests, who falls for his "coming out" act, and later discovers he was lying to rid himself of her).

Last Days of Disco (Beat Connection Remix) *Saint Etienne*
I do not own copyright to this material. "Words and Music by Saint Etienne" is an album about "how music affects your life. How it defines the way you see the world as a child, how it can get you through bad times in unexpected ways, and how songs you've known all your life can suddenly develop a new attachment, and hurt every time you hear them. More than how it affects and reflects your life though", he sums up, "the album is about believing in music, living your life by its rules". To that end, the album opens with "Over the Border", a wry, moving spoken-word reflection with singer Sarah Cracknell ruminating on her first, tentative steps into a lifelong love affair with pop, beginning with her using "Top of the Pops as my world atlas" as a child, before mixtapes from first loves soundtrack her teenage years; finally she asks "when I was married, and when I had kids, would Marc Bolan still be so important?" It's a powerful, emblematic introduction to the album, one that sees the unabashed, glitter strewn, delirious disco highs of "I've Got Your Music" and "DJ" sit comfortably alongside the gorgeous, plaintive laments of "I Threw it All Away" and "25 Years". But from Cracknell calling for salvation through song in the gospel-tinged "Record Doctor" right through to her chanting "tonight when the lights are going down/ I will surrender to the sound" on taster single "Tonight", the endlessly emotive, sometimes redemptive relationship between music and listener has never ...

Del disco Dark horse, de Nickelback, hice esta traducción, para compartirla, espero les guste Letra original My best friend gave me the best advice He said each day's a gift and not a given right Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind And try to take the path less traveled by That first step you take is the longest stride If today was your last day And tomorrow was too late Could you say goodbye to yesterday? Would you live each moment like your last? Leave old pictures in the past Donate every dime you have? If today was your last day Against the grain should be a way of life What's worth the prize is always worth the fight Every second counts 'cause there's no second try So live like you'll never live it twice Don't take the free ride in your own life If today was your last day And tomorrow was too late Could you say goodbye to yesterday? Would you live each moment like your last? Leave old pictures in the past Donate every dime you have? Would you call old friends you never see? Reminisce old memories Would you forgive your enemies? Would you find that one you're dreamin' of? Swear up and down to God above That you finally fall in love If today was your last day If today was your last day Would you make your mark by mending a broken heart? You know it's never too late to shoot for the stars Regardless of who you are So do whatever it takes 'Cause you can't rewind a moment in this life Let nothin' stand in your way Cause the hands of time are never on your ...

Alicia Bridges - I Love The Nightlife (1978)
Disco diva Alicia Bridges scored big in 1978 with her chart-topping hit "I Love the Nightlife." It was her biggest moment in music, making her self-titled debut a definite part of the feel-good disco scene of the late '70s. The blues-tinged "Diamond in the Rough" and "Broken Woman" were mildly successful, but Bridges never regained her disco reign. Two more albums followed -- 1979's Play It as It Lays and 1984's Hocus Pocus -- but those failed to gain recognition despite some disco threads transitioning into the new wave scene of the early '80s. Bridges wasn't entirely forgotten. Nearly 20 years later, electronic dance gurus "Little" Louie Vega and Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez of the house act Masters at Work revamped "I Love the Nightlife for the campy flick The Last Days of Disco. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide
Barcelona: the original movie
A non stereotypical view of Barcelona and catalan women, except for the flamenco scene. Ted, a stuffy white guy from Illinois working in sales for the Barcelona office of a US corporation, is paid an unexpected visit by his somewhat less stuffy cousin Fred, who is an officer in the US Navy. Over the next few months, both their lives are irrevocably altered by the events which follow Fred's arrival, events which are the trivial stuff of a comedy of manners at first but which gradually grow increasingly dramatic

Gladstein, Dolly Hall, Jonathan King, Margot Lulick, Bob Weinstein, Harvey Weinstein, Lila Yacoub Screenwriter: Mark Christopher Film Description: Mark Christopher wrote and directed this look back at the Disco Era when the popular Studio 54 was at its apogee in the late '70s. With obvious comparisons to Paul Thomas Anderson's Boogie Nights (1997) and Whit Stillman's The Last Days of Disco (1998), the story introduces working-class 19-year-old Irish-American Shane O'Shea (Ryan Phillippe), who has lived with his father and siblings since the death of his mother when he was 12. Shane quickly rises from busboy to bartender at Studio 54, co-owned and managed in a paternal manner by entrepreneur Steve Rubell (Mike Myers). Busboy Greg Randazzo (Breckin Meyer) and Greg's wife, Anita (Salma Hayek), the club's coat check girl, become Shane's new friends, and he encounters the possibility of romance with soap star Julie Black (Neve Campbell). The story spans the summer of 1979 until the decline of Studio 54 a year later with IRS investigations, followed by the ...
younger brother - ribbon on a branch
Younger Brother was formed in 2003 by Simon Posford and Benji Vaughan. Their particular genre of music is difficult to accurately classify as it suggests many different forms of electronic music without subscribing to a specific style. Their debut album, A Flock of Bleeps, released on the Twisted Records record label has taken on cult status[citation needed] in underground electronica scenes around the world; with the duo drawing crowds from across the globe. Their second album, titled "The Last Days of Gravity" was released on October 15th, 2007. The artwork for the album is made by the legendary Storm Thorgerson (whose work has graced albums by Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons, and Led Zeppelin, among many others). In 2008, Posford and Benji took "Younger Brother" to Colorado and California on the Twisted Conspiracy Tour. Playing with them in the "Younger Brother Live" band were Marc Brownstein (The Disco Biscuits, Electron) on bass, Tom Hamilton (Brothers Past, The American Babies, Electron) on guitar, and Joe Russo (The Benevento/Russo Duo, Bustle In Your Hedgerow, The American Babies, Electron) on drums. "The Younger Brother Live" band also appeared at Camp Biso '08.
The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human
The dating and mating rituals of a "typical" male and female couple are presented as a nature documentary in this hilariously sexy romantic comedy starring Carmen Electra and Mackenzie Astin. An unseen extraterrestrial (David Hyde Pierce, TV's "Frasier") narrates the courtship of young lovers, handsome Billy (Astin, THE LAST DAYS OF DISCO) and sexy Jenny (Electra, TV's "Baywatch"). From an awkward first meeting in a crowded nightclub through subsequent dates, meeting the prospective in-laws andthe sometimes harsh judgement of friends, Jenny and Billy give the extraterrestrial plenty of reason to doubt the sanity of humans' bizarre mating habits. This delightfully funny and insightful comedy also stars Lucy Liu (CHARLIE'S ANGELS, BALLISTIC: ECKS VS. SEVER). MPAA Rating: R © 1999 Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment. All Rights Reserved.

The Last Amazing Grays - Sonata Arctica (Lyrics)
"The Last Amazing Grays" Tercera pista del disco "The Days of Grays" de Sonata Arctica (Tony Kakko) The mystery of death before us Soon every night can bring the light... and close my eyes. Sometimes life in here is too limiting Sometimes we don´t care at all, sometimes... Time will change the familiar face, Brightest colors fade to gray The fear is real, one winter´s day brings the clarity.. I feel the time is catching up with us How many days until its hunger is satisfied Living the final golden days, we are the last Amazing Grays Hoping the young will lead the pack now I can feel my heart is beating... still I can see you with my eyes, I still see... But I can´t run the way my children can, Can´t accept your helping hand. Leave me. You are the strong one, trust in me You must lead instead of me now There´s no time, don´t hesitate, or you will also find your fate I feel the time is catching up with us... In the eyes of every newborn, I see the future. Life is just a phase, I close my eyes and see them all here beside me, The last amazing grays... In the eyes of every newborn, I see the past times old familiar face. I close my eyes and see them, waiting for me amongst the Amazing Grays.. In the eyes of every newborn, I see the past times. life is just a phase... I close my eyes and see them all here beside me, All the amazing grays.. Mountain sings to me for this last time, marking the moment, I have found my place, I closed my eyes and joined them, guarding the young ...

The Frames - Fitzcarraldo (No Disco, 1995)
The Frames - Fitzcarraldo (No Disco, Acoustic 1995). This was the moment it all changed for The Frames, at the bottom of a mountain with no where to go but up. LYRICS: Here, back, down a long and straight track I have chose the long road - That leads me to god knows So I can't stop right now Even the good stars can fall from grace and falter Lose their faith and slide But I can't get an ocean that's deep enough for my day It's the first of the ascension It's a sad way we've flown after the storm And her last words were "I was only thinking of you" In my olden days I was a slave Well now it's time for to sound your voice And capture what you're after My ship was sold right up the river But I'm not going down here This journey isn't over It's a long way to the house of Fitzcarraldo And her last words were "I'm always thinking of you" In my olden days I was a saint Even the good stars can fall from grace and falter Like lapdogs that stride that mystery And her last words were "I'll see you down in history" It's the only way that we can go I shall eclipse you It's a long way to Fitzcarraldo And I don't want to pray for you In the name of something true
