2010 NBA FINALS Game 5: Boston Celtics VS Los Angeles Lakers (Kobe VS Pierce)
June 13th, 2010: The last home game for the Boston Celtics as they head to to LA for a game 6 and perhaps a game 7. Kobe was just ridiculous in the 3rd quarter...scoring 19 points. But the Celtics would respond back every time he would make a shot. Pierce led the Celtics with 27 points and Bryant with 38. Boston:96 Lakers:89 Series Tied 2-2.Next Game Sunday. But all of it was conducive to the operation of the Boston Celtics. Especially the bench. With a series-tying 96-89 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, the Celtics dominated -- in as much as anything was truly dominated -- points in the paint, 54-34, and got 36 crucial points off the bench, including 21 in the fourth quarter. In fact, the bench, composed of Nate Robinson, Glen Davis, Tony Allen and Rasheed Wallace played so well in the fourth quarter that Celtics coach Doc Rivers had to choose whether to keep the barnburners in, or return to his veterans. He opted to wait. As the fourth quarter reached the stage when Rivers would traditionally begin bringing his starters back in, he imposed a rule: if the Lakers got within six points, the bench squad was coming out. "I don't think [the starters] really care, and that's what makes us ?? that's why we're here, it really is," River said. "Hell, Rondo and all of them, they were begging me to keep guys in. 'Don't take them out! Don't take them out!' It was great. That was the loudest I've seen our bench, and it was our starters cheering from the bench." "I was really looking at the clock thinking, 'Man, when is he going to take us out,' Davis said. "I want to give Doc a hug man. I sure appreciate it." Game 1 - Celtics 98, Lakers 88 The Celtics drew first blood and won Game 1, improving to 7-2 all-time at home in Game 1 versus the Lakers. With the win, the Celtics improved to 11-1 at home this postseason. Paul Pierce was the story of Game 1. After scoring only 3 points in the 1st half, Pierce erupted for 15 third-quarter points, going 5-for-5 from the field and 3-for-3 from 3-point range. Pierce left the game with 6:48 in the third quarter with an apparent knee injury and had to be helped off the court in a wheelchair. However, he dramatically returned to the court after just a few minutes, and re-entered the game showing no ill effects from his injury. Pierce finished with 22 points and Kevin Garnett, who had 16 first-half points, ended Game 1 with 24 points. Boston held the Lakers to a 25.0 FG percentage in the fourth quarter. The Lakers lost Game 1 for the first time in the 2008 postseason and fell to 4-9 in their last 13 postseason road games. Kobe Bryant started the game by missing his first three shots and was 2-8 from the field in the first quarter. Bryant scored 12 points in the third quarter and finished with a team-high 24 points for the game. After scoring 51 points in the first half, the Lakers scored just 37 points in the second half. Derek Fisher scored 13 points in the first half but had just 2 points in the second half. The Lakers were outrebounded 46-33 in the game.

So the M2 Playoffs are coming to a close, and here is my final submission for the contest. It's a 2010 NBA Finals recap mix featuring all the great moments of this epic 7 game series. There were so many great moments it felt like I was always trying to stuff 5 pounds of material into a 1 pound bag. But I tried to show the behind the scenes/emotional side of the story. Starting the mix with Kobe reflecting on the pain of the 2008 finals, and then juxtaposing it with this years victory. I tried to bring you guys on more of an all access pass by incorporating the wired interviews, post game material, and pre games speeches.
