Before Christina and them, Labelle performed another soul, gut-wrenching performance of "Lady Marmalade" and "Get You Somebody New", Patti in her element/prime was no joke, she dropped it like it's hot, and Sarah and Nona were both doing the thing.

Labelle is an American all female singing group who were a popular vocal group of the 1960s and 1970s. Originally forming as The Ordettes in 1960 by lead singer Patti LaBelle and childhood friend Sandra Tucker who was replaced by Cindy Birdsong in 1961 and with the inclusion of former members of the Philadelphia-based Del Capris, Sarah Dash and Nona Hendryx, they eventually changed their name to The Bluebelles in 1962 after signing their first recording contract. Mixing doo-wop and gospel, they became known for performing renditions of pop standards such as "Over the Rainbow" and "You'll Never Walk Alone". After Birdsong's departure to join The Supremes in 1967, the group altered their image at least twice in the 1970s and changed their name to Labelle, performing rock-meshed soul and gospel-singing harmonies, under a pro-feminist approach and famously opening for The Who. In 1973, the group adopted a more flamboyant image and music that melded disco, funk and glam rock. This incarnation of group was best known for singing more provocative issues including racism, sexism and eroticism. The group is most notable for the proto-disco funk classic "Lady Marmalade" and their outlandish space-age costumes and brash incorporation of rock & roll. Patti LaBelle Securty Assault West Point Cadet - Raw Video
Patti LaBelle allegedly ordered her security thugs to beat up a man for standing too close to her limo at the airport, according to witnesses at the scene. LaBelle and her thugs put her luggage beside the man, then decided he was too close to it. Witnesses reportedly saw and heard Miss LaBelle tell her hired thugs to "sic him." So three of them gave him a beat down, sending him to the hospital with a head concussion. While their victim, a West Point cadet named Richard King, was being transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, Miss LaBelle posed for publicity photos with some of the Houston police, beside a puddle of King's blood. After posing with Miss LaBelle, and getting her autograph, the police contacted West Point with allegations that King smelled of alcohol. King said he had some drinks on the plane, but was not intoxicated. As you can see in the video, he was well coordinated while walking and talking on his cell phone, prior to the beating. West Point has disciplined him, based on the allegations of LaBelle's friends at the Houston Police Department.
