Japanese environmental activist - Yumi Kikuchi, Big island
Born and raised in Tokyo. Yumi Kikuchi became full time environmental activist in 1990, her first main focus was saving the tropical rain forests in Central America. After the events of Sept 11, 2001 Yumi organized the internet based Global Peace Campaign, which contributed to four full page peace advertisements in major newspapers in the USA. Since then she has been pivotal in the translation of many peace related books and publications from English to Japanese. Yumi travels extensively in Japan and United States, giving lectures and interviews. In 2004 she produced the first Tokyo Peace Film Festival which showed six documentary peace related films. This is my transcription of "Tobe ! Grendizer", the opening song of UFO Robot Grendizer. The original version,is composed by Shunsuke Kikuchi. I tried to make honour to this title but it was hard to make it on piano (i have to make choice among all the instruments used in the orginal orchestral version!).This version is mainly improvised, contains flubs and gave me lot of work ! (eg i listened to this title at least a thousand times). For now, that's the best i can do. Hope you will appreciate this unpretentious work.
