I took a walk in the morning and found myself in the red light district in the Kitaguchi area. I met some guys coming out of a cabaret club (kyabakura) and they invited me to join them to visit another club, at 5am. Hidden UNKO. If you listen carefully, you can hear a drunk guy say "unko" at the end of one clip.CAn you find the hidden unko? Unko means poop. That is todays lesson.

kentanakalovesyou.blogspot.com I went to the San Diego Comic-con and met some interesting masked friends. I'll be at the 2010 comic con too. The comic con is the largest comic book convention in the United States. It is the Comike (Comicket, comic market) of the US. It's not just comics though, they have star wars, star trek, video games, hollywood movies, and many costumed cosplayers. They also have lots of special gets like my friend James Jean and David Mack, as well as famous comic writers and artists such as Stan Lee from Marvel Comics, Frank Miller, Neil Gaiman and many more. I visited the San Diego Comic Con and also the Los Angeles Anime Expo which is focused more on Japanese anime and cosplay.

I tried shrimp fried rice (Ebi Chahan) which is commonly served in Chinese restaurants in Japan. I also accidentally ordered a dish that looks a lot like stinky tofu...my old enemy. Oh, and if anybody is wondering, my back is doing better. I still have to take lots of yucky pharmaceutical drugs...like Neurontin, Robaxin, and some others...but I have been swimming and playing more regularly and doing lots of physical therapy exercises. Here is the first video on the KenTanakaJapan channel. www.youtube.com In this video I get an epidural to help as a steroid and anti-inflammatory. Because the shot is painful, they put you to sleep with Propofol. That's the drug that Michael Jackson was taking when he passed away. I don't recommend that you go out and herniate a disc, although the animal crackers were delicious.

My blog kentanakalovesyou.blogspot.com See Hiro surf here vimeo.com HIro's blog ameblo.jp In my recent video, Polo-Kun and I drive across the seto bridge into the island of Shikoku. After exiting at Naruto we drove to Kaifu and Ikumi beach where we rented surfboards and enjoyed 2 or 3 hours of fun, but small waves filled with jellyfishes. We met pro surfer HIro 一楽弘徳who also runs a surf shop and rents boards. Koochi is a beautiful part of shikoku and is known for having very nice surf. I think it is biggest in winter though. The are is also famous for udon noodles, so make sure to eat some if you go there.

www.kentanakalovesyou.com Takeo and I visited Torrance ARt Museum's fundraiser. I contributed a Hanshin Tigers piece that was sold there, and TAkeo Kun bought a piece. All the proceeds went to the Japan Red Cross. I am very happy to see so many fundraisers going on. I raised $400 selling my t-shirts to you guys (thanks everybody). Last Sunday a group of Japanese friends had a garage sale and food sale and raised over $5000. I hope everyone keeps raising money

There have also been Mexican taco trucks, then a few years ago a Korean BBQ taco truck called Kogi started. Kogi became very popular and soon there were food trucks all over. There are melted cheese sandwich trucks, Indian curry trucks, southern bbq trucks, even ramen and takoyaki. I tried the famous Lobsta truck known for its lobster rolls. I met gentleman cartoonist Kieth Knight who draws the K chronicles and is a lobster roll pro. I would like to go to kelly's roast beef someday. www.kchronicles.com Check out his funny cartoons. kentanakalovesyou.blogspot.com Words and music by Ken Tanaka. The song is an "enka", a kind of traditional Japanese folk song. It's kind of hard to write, so I only have one verse so far. Sorry. In this video Ken Tanaka returns to Japan and stays in Shinjuku's Kabukichoo neighborhood. You can see interviews with hosts and hostesses and a nice park in Shinjuku. This is the red light district and Tokyo people often refer to it as the most dangerous part of Tokyo. It's not at all dangerous compared to other countries though. I did meets someone recently who was mugged in Kabukicho though. :( The host clubs and hostess bars, or cabaret clubs, feature male and female hosts who drink and talk with their clients. This is a tradition in many Asian countries, but foreign visitors from Europe and the US often find it very strange. You can learn more about this by watching my "why men go to hostess clubs" video. If you are learning Japanese, hopefully the japanese interview in this video will help improve your language skills.
Ken Tanaka meets Jacob the herniated disc
www.everybodydiesbook.com Yes, I herniated the disc in my back called L5 also known as Jacob the angry disc. I don't recommend herniating a disc. My foot has been numb and tingly for 3 weeks and parts of my leg too. It feels like when you surf in cold water for too long and your foot goes numb, then you get out of the water and it starts to warm up bet gets very tingly. I am hoping Jacob will move back into his little nest between spinal bones....if he doesn't move back in, they will have to cut him up....which will be painful for him and me too. I don't really like having a herniated disc, but I do think that a bad injury can sometimes make you stop your life and think hard about what is important to you. So after time an injury can end up being a positive experience in your life. I am hoping that this is how I see things in a year or two from now. I feel bad for my dolphin friends who I know want to be ridden around and are probably bored and lonesome without me....like Puff the Magic Dragon when Jackie Paper stopped coming to see him.

Kokoro and Makura. Kokoro can mean heart or spirit...and Makura is a pillow. This is our first song in the bird of the millenium series. The Goose is the bird of this millenium. Kentucky Fried Cannabis? Ken Tanaka tries to eat lunch.
My Blog. kentanakalovesyou.blogspot.com In this video, I was just hoping to have lunch at KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) but I found that the local KFC had been turned into a legal medical marijuana dispensary called (Kind For Cures). I noticed that the smoke coming out of this KFC didn't smell very chickeny, so I had to go to another place for lunch.

IT's full of peas, senbei (rice crackers) and nori covered arare. Some of the crackers are very spicy, I wonder if that is why they call it Hot Mate. I hope that everybody can find hot mate no matte where they are. Regular Mate is good too, your mate doesn't have to be hot. Some people prefer regular mate. everybodydiesbook.com I visited this very handsome hotsprings called Peitou in Taipei. The area looked a lot like a Japanese hot springs resort, but maybe less touristy and developed. I bounce because I am happy. I think I must have just seen a sea chicken flying by and that's why I started singing about it. In Japan, sea chicken means tuna fish with mayonnaise and is commonly used in rice balls (onigiri). Polo and I have made many songs like this, just search "Ken tanaka and polo" to see more improvised music. All of our songs are improvised...as you can probably tell :-). The ball I'm sitting on is part of my rehabilitation therapy for my herniated disc. I can't sit in a regular chair for very long. I bounced a lot in this one and got sore afterwords..

I visited Taiwan and went Fulong where I ate delicious ekiben (train station bento box) and surfed in the typhoon swell. The surf was very chopppy with a strong and scary current. I had to keep paddling and paddling to keep from getting sucked out into the sea. It was pretty scary, so I only caught one wave. The surfer getting barreled in this video was a local surf teacher and he was somehow able to say in the same spot at the break without getting taken by the current. There were two Ekiben makers in front of the station at Fulong. I tried both and they were equally good. This ekiben was actually one of the tastiest things I ate in Taiwan. Mmmmmm.
