Nelka Case - JWT Costa Rica
Nelka Rent-a-Car is a middle-size car rental company in Costa Rica. It has a fleet of about 200 cars and ten offices in different parts of the country. The issue was that the client wanted to rent out at least 80% of its fleet for the summer season. Our problem was competing against the huge advertising investment our competitors were making in order to target most of the foreign tourists. Our solution - we proposed to get hold of a different market, the one niche no one had yet taken advantage of: THE NATIONAL TOURIST. JWT Mexico - Ford Focus "Test Drive"
With recession forecast to hit Latin America sometime in 2010, Mexico registered among the most anxious of the 16 countries JWT has studied for our AnxietyIndex. A survey of 296 Mexican adults aged 18-59, conducted in January, found that 78 percent report being anxious. The primary drivers of anxiety are the economic situation, the escalation of violence and crime, and the stagnant job market. Mexicans' frustration and pessimism are exacerbated by the widespread belief that the political class is detached from the country's reality, that the current government is one of the most corrupt and that people are being treated unjustly. Feeling they live in permanent instability, people are pessimistic about the future, especially when they think about the job market their children will one day face, the cost of their children's education and having enough money for a comfortable old age. For Mexican brands, there are opportunities in helping to restore a sense of control for consumers. Ford champions this idea of empowerment in a Focus commercial that dramatizes a test drive as a getaway chase in a fantasy urban landscape. The driver weaves around pop-up cutouts of roadside obstacles—dog walkers, construction workers, school children crossing the street, etc.—while drag-racing a paper-cutout driver, accompanied by the 1980s Karate Kid anthem "You're the Best Around." Commercial whaling was banned in 1986. Today, whaling nations use a legal loophole of scientific research and continue to kill thousands of endangered whales for commercial use every year. The International Fund for Animal Welfare tasked us with spreading awareness of this brutal slaughter in Australia on international anti-whaling day. To create maximum impact, we needed to engage with the audience in a very different way. There was a strong need to bring the experience closer to the shores of Australia. Earlier this year the Innovation Lab, part of the Experience Department at JWT London began working with Playcast to create a product for TV and computer audiences. The aim was to create a gaming portal, giving consumers the ultimate in user experience and social integration in gaming. It allows users to do the following: -make new friends and invite friends from Facebook , - challenge friends to play games and share tips, -Brag and post achievements on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube -Watch highlights from other players -comment on games -Record gameplay live and upload it to Youtube for other to watch and vote JWT have also implemented a user rewards system, with points and profile upgrades for: -Pre-release access to new titles, deals -And beta-testing new features. Publishers can show off new game releases and display the latest news in the gaming market.

Burma Installation
In 2010, Burma held its first elections in 20 years. As part of its campaign to help free Burma's 2100 political prisoners, Human Rights Watch created a giant installation at New York's Grand Central Station. Consisting of hundreds of prison cells, a closer look reveals that the cells bars are actually pens. Visitors could remove the pens to symbolically free the prisoners and then use the pen to sign a petition calling for the release of these innocent prisoners.
