ICC judges reject Ocampo four appeals
www.ntv.co.ke The Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Court has unanimously rejected an appeal raised by the Ocampo four challenging the court's jurisdiction setting the stage for a full trial. The Ocampo four had submitted that the ICC had no jurisdiction over their cases and had contested the interpretation of the term "organizational policy in their charges" as a component of crimes against humanity. However, the appeals chamber comprising five judges ruled that the ICC had subject matter jurisdiction over the cases.

LOS ANGELES - Though her latest performance did not get the same enthusiastic response from the judges as her previous ones, Filipino-American Jessica Sanchez was still among those who got the loudest applause from the American Idol live audience. Guest mentor Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas was impressed with Jessica's talent. The 16-year old singer said she's happy that so many fellow Filipinos have been supporting her from the beginning. She said, "Thank you guys for all the support and all the love. I hope I can visit the Philippines one day. You guys are amazing!" After wowing the judges with her rendition of Whitney Houston's classic "I Will Always Love You" last week, Jessica this time did an upbeat tune, singing "Turn the Beat Around" by Gloria Estefan. Judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson said it did not suit her voice and they advised her not to stray from ballads that showcase her vocal prowess. Jessica said she had a hard time picking a song. This week's theme was "Songs from the Year You Were Born". She said, "I've always been looking for constructive criticism from them because I want to always step up my game and perfect the next song that I'm doing, and they haven't been really giving me that.
