Africa (Toto - cover) - Jimmie Inch

I did this cover one night for a laugh a couple of years ago . Just trying to figure out how to do a split screen. If I had thought people would watch it, I would have re-done the high part (and white-balanced the camera)... too late now. Anyway, for those who enjoy it, thanks. Gotta love the 80's tunes.

Jimmie Rodgers Kisses Sweeter Than Wine

The 1958 hit from the great Jimmie Rodgers. James Frederick "Jimmie" Rodgers (born September 18, 1933 in Camas, Washington, United States) is an American singer. He is not related to the country singer of the same name, who coincidentally died in the same year that the subject of this article was born. His name is often incorrectly spelled Jimmy or Rogers. Rodgers was taught music by his mother, learned to play the piano and guitar, and joined a band called "The Melodies" started by violinist Phil Clark, while he served in the United States Air Force in Korea. Like a number of other entertainers of the era, he was one of the contestants on Arthur Godfrey's talent show on the radio. When Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore left RCA Records to found a new record company, Roulette Records, they became aware of Rodgers' talent and signed him up. In the summer of 1957, he recorded a song called "Honeycomb", which had been recorded by Bob Merrill and Georgie Shaw three years earlier. The tune was Rodgers' biggest hit, staying on the top of the charts for four weeks. The following year, he had a number of other hits that reached the Top 10 on the charts: "Kisses Sweeter than Wine", "Oh-Oh, I'm Falling in Love Again", "Secretly", and "Are You Really Mine". Other hits include "Bo Diddley", "Bimbombey", "Ring-a-ling-a-lario", "Tucumcari," "Tender Love and Care (TLC)", and a version of Waltzing Matilda as a film tie-in with On the Beach. In 1966 The Beach Boys peaked at #3 on the ...

Jimmie Rodgers - Years Ago (The last recording of Jimmie Rodgers)

May 1933, Rodgers, suffering from Tuberculosis, traveled to New York City for a group of sessions beginning May 17, 1933. He started these sessions recording alone and completed four songs on the first day. When he returned to the studio after a day's rest, he had to record sitting down and soon retreated to his hotel in hopes of regaining enough energy to finish the songs he had been rehearsing. The recording engineer hired two session musicians to help Rodgers when he came back to the studio a few days later. Together they recorded a few songs, including "Mississippi Delta Blues". For his last song of the session, however, Jimmie chose to perform alone, and as a matching bookend to his career, recorded "Years Ago" by himself. Jimmie Rodgers died two days later on May 26, 1933 from a lung hemorrhage. He was 35 years old.
