Gretsch 6122-1959 Review as a jazz guitar
I do believe that Gretsch guitars are overlooked by a lot of jazz guitar players. I enjoy this guitar a lot, and if I had to keep only one to make a living with (of the guitars I own) it would be this one (I hope I don't have to make that choice!). It is just so versatile. And, as I said, a very underrated jazz instrument. I would like to add, to round out the review, there are issues with Gretsches that should be mentioned. 1-Adjusting Gretsch pickups is a grueling process. It is not as easy as adjusting a normal humbucking pickup that is in a ring mount. Be prepared, as it has very limited range of movement and may require the help of a guitar repair person (luthier). The way the pickup is mounted is possibly part to the sound. If you like the Filtertron sound and you have a humbucker guitar, I would check out the TV Jones website (or others) to see how a replacement pickup would sound that is designed to sound like a Filtertron. 2-The guitar, even without the Bigsby, is a little tail heavy. This is not an issue when I use a strap and stand up while playing but should be noted. The guitar has excellent balance with a strap when I am standing up. 3-This guitar has been set up by John Thayer in Bremerton WA and plays with incredible action, but the factory fret job is not great upon closer inspection. It isn't bad, but it could be better in terms of how well the frets are seated into the neck. I can live with it, but it will have the frets replaced at some point due to ...

Jazz Guitar Lessons - Jazz Master - Robert Conti - Bossanova 11
FULL COURSE, TAB, JAM TRACKS: truefire.at More free guitar lessons: bit.ly TrueFire on Facebook: facebook.com "Mix the enthusiasm of a city kid with equal parts of Wes Montgomery, Johnny Smith and Howard Roberts, season heavily with equal parts of Oscar Peterson and Charlie Parker. Stir vigorously for twenty years and youll cook up jazz guitar master Robert Conti!" so says jazz label PRD, Otto Altobelli and we couldnt agree more. Robert Conti is indeed one of the few bonafide jazz guitar masters walking the planet today and we're proud as we can be to bring you TrueFire's version of Conti's extraordinary Jazz Master course. Fortunately for we mere mortal students of jazz guitar, Conti has an innovative approach for breaking down and presenting jazz instruction. He gets you up and running quickly no tedious theory, exercises or methodology to master before getting some solid lines and chord melodies under your belt. This volume, and the next two, focus on improvisational soloing - this first one features a beautifully executed solo over a bossanova jazz feel. Conti breaks it all down note-for-note and provides critical guidance along the way following his proven teaching system. Contis reputation for blazing speed and sophisticated lines is well substantiated in all of the courses solos but fear not, all of the material is demonstrated at slow tempos and the interactive tab player lets you slow the lines down without changing pitch. This volume takes you back to the day ...
