The song reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, #9 in Australia, #25 in the UK, and #8 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks in the US. The song features a signature Kirk Pengilly sax solo and lyrics about a partying lifestyle. The first line "Live, baby, live", was later referenced in the title of the bands's 1991 release Live Baby Live. The track is notable as being the first track to be performed at the London Astoria, and it was later covered by Welsh band The Automatic at the final performance at the venue in 2009. The song was used in a commercial for SeaWorld in 1996-1997, shortly before Michael Hutchence's death. It was also used in a 2002 commercial for McDonald's Grilled Chicken Flatbread Sandwich. Siouxsie and the Banshees - Cities in Dust
"Cities in Dust" is a song written and produced by British rock band Siouxsie and the Banshees. It was released as the first single from their seventh studio album Tinderbox in 1985. The "Cities in Dust" 12-inch single was the first Banshees' single-release in the United States, through Geffen Records. The song obliquely describes the city of Pompeii, destroyed in a volcanic eruption in 79AD. Imagery describing the volcano and its magma chamber, the condition of the victims of the eruption, and the subsequent discovery and excavation of the city comprises the bulk of the lyrics. "Cities in Dust" was a more post-punk affair than singles released by Siouxsie & the Banshees in the previous several years. It also had more of a pop music melody than past releases from the band, although its cryptic lyrics were still dark, mentioning a shrine to Lares Familiares. Its upbeat 4/4 rhythm also made it a hit in danceclubs. "Cities in Dust" peaked at number twenty-one in the UK singles chart. Although not Siouxsie & the Banshees' first song to hit the US Hot Dance Club Play chart, it was their first significant hit, climbing to number seventeen. In Australia, Talking in Your Sleep climbed to #14 on the Australian Singles Chart (Kent Music Report). The song's music video, widely aired at the time on MTV and elsewhere, featured the band performing while surrounded by standing, but seemingly sleeping women who were dressed in lingerie, pajamas, and other sleepwear. Talking Heads - Burning Down The House
"Burning Down the House" is a song by New Wave band Talking Heads, released as the first single from their fifth studio album Speaking in Tongues. Chris Frantz has stated that he thought of the titular chorus after seeing a Parliament-Funkadelic show where the crowd chanted "Burn down the house." The initial lyrics were considerably different, however. In an interview on NPR's "All Things Considered" aired on December 2, 1984, David Byrne played excerpts of early worktapes showing how the song had evolved from an instrumental jam by Tina Weymouth (bass) and Chris Frantz (drums). Once the whole band had reworked the groove into something resembling the final recording, Byrne began chanting and singing nonsense syllables over the music until he had arrived at phrasing that fit with the rhythms—a technique influenced by former Talking Heads producer Brian Eno-- "and then I [would] just write words to fit that phrasing... I'd have loads and loads of phrases collected that I thought thematically had something to do with one another, and I'd pick from those." According to Byrne in the NPR interview, phrases he tried but ultimately didn't use in the song's recorded "verses" included "I have another body," "Pick it up by the handle," "You travel with a double," and "I'm still under construction." As for the title phrase in the chorus, one early attempt (as heard on a worktape) had him singing a different line, "What are we gonna do?", and at another point in the process, "instead ...
The Pretenders - Back On The Chain Gang HQ Music
"Back on the Chain Gang" is a single by The Pretenders released in November 1982. The song was also released on The King of Comedy soundtrack album (March 1983) and later included on The Pretenders' next album Learning to Crawl in January 1984. It reached number five on the US Billboard Hot 100 (the band's highest charting US single), number four on Billboard's Top Tracks chart and number 17 in the United Kingdom. The song was originally going to be about Ray Davies, leader of the band The Kinks. Hynde and Davies were a couple and had a daughter together, but the meaning of the song changed after James Honeyman-Scott, the Pretenders guitarist, died of a drug overdose at the age of 25 in 1982. The memorable chain-gang chant heard during the chorus of the song echoes a similar chant on Sam Cooke's song "Chain Gang." The Pretenders - Don't Get Me Wrong HQ
"Don't Get Me Wrong" is a song released by the pop-rock group The Pretenders. It was the first single taken from the group's 1986 album, Get Close. It can also be found on the band's The Singles album, released in 1987. In the US, "Don't Get Me Wrong" became the group's second Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at #10. Their first Top 10 pop hit, "Back on the Chain Gang", had reached #5 in 1983. "Don't Get Me Wrong" also spent three weeks atop the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart in November 1986. In the UK, the song also peaked at #10 in the UK Singles Chart. This song was more commercial than the band's usual sound, with a jangly guitar sound and a pop melody. However, the lyrics were still as biting as their earlier material. It was covered by British pop singer Lily Allen for BBC Radio 1's 40th anniversary celebrations in 2007 and was released on the subsequent compilation album. The music video for the song is a clear tribute to the British 1960's TV spy series The Avengers, with Chrissie Hynde playing Emma Peel in search of John Steed (Patrick Macnee appears in the original series' footage, with Hynde superimposed). It was released as the A-side of their fifth single, with the album track "Getaway." The studio version of the song peaked at No. 57 on the Billboard singles chart, besting the band's previous charting single, "Kissin' Time" (#79). A subsequent live version, released as a single in October 1975, eventually reached No. 12, the first of six Top 20 songs for Kiss in the 1970s. Since then, it has become Kiss's most identifiable song and has served as the group's closing concert number in almost every concert since 1976. In 2008 it was named the 16th greatest hard rock song of all time by VH1. (p) 1975 Casablanca Records (c) 1975 Casablanca Records (c) 2011 Universal Music Group www.kissonline.com | http | umusic.com

Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O`Mine HD
Sweet Child O`Mine Appetite For Destruction Axl Rose / Slash / Mikey Wiseman The "Sweet Child O' Mine" video depicts the band rehearsing in an abandoned theater, surrounded by crew members. Several of the band members' girlfriends were shown in the clip. Izzy Stradlin's dog was also featured. The video was extremely successful on MTV, and helped launch the song to success on mainstream radio. In an effort to make "Sweet Child O' Mine" more marketable to MTV and radio stations, the song was cut from 5:56 minutes to 4:20, with much of Slash's guitar solo removed. This move drew the ire of the band members, including Axl Rose, who commented on it in a 1989 interview with Rolling Stone: "I hate the edit of 'Sweet Child o' Mine.' Radio stations said, "Well, your vocals aren't cut." "My favorite part of the song is Slash's slow solo; it's the heaviest part for me. There's no reason for it to be missing except to create more space for commercials, so the radio-station owners can get more advertising dollars. When you get the chopped version of 'Paradise City' or half of 'Sweet Child' and 'Patience' cut, you're getting screwed." On an interview on Eddie Trunk's New York radio show in May 2006, Axl Rose stated that his original concept for the video focused on the theme of drug trafficking. According to Rose, the video was to depict an Asian woman carrying a baby into a foreign land, only to discover at the end that the child was dead and filled with heroin. This concept was ...
