International human rights advocate Bianca Jagger told 1100 newly minted Simmons College graduates that the smallest act of courage can save lives, and "perhaps, even change the course of history," at the college's 103rd commencement at the Bayside Exposition Center in Boston. Jagger, currently chair of the World Future Council, the Council of Europe Goodwill Ambassador, and chair of the Bianca Jagger Human Rights Foundation, has a long record of speaking out against inhumanities to human populations, and destruction of the environment. Over the years, she has worked to denounce human rights violations in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. As part of a campaign on behalf of indigenous populations in Latin America, she declared a commitment to help save the tropical rain forests and to protect indigenous peoples' historical habitats in the Western Hemisphere. At the May 17 commencement, Jagger told graduates, "you have worked hard to get here. But I must tell you that it is now that the real hard work begins," she said. "Because we are at a crossroads in human history. We face unprecedented threats, both to human security and to the environment. We have witnessed numerous assaults on the rule of law, human rights and civil liberties. Not to ignore the other band members (Dave Lee Bartel and Paul Size, both guitarists), but Lester got a lot of hype for his presence and the band got signed to Rick Rubin's American Recordings where they released one album, King King in 1992, and an EP in 1994. The album is considered a classic and Rubin gets props for recording the band live without overdubs to capture their vibe, but he had bigger things in store for the band. While producing Mick Jagger's Wandering Spirit, it was decided that the Devils would back Mick on a collection of classic blues covers. What followed was described by the band as Mick, whom they had just met, essentially becoming one of the guys and they all fell in love with him. An album's worth of songs were recorded but sat in the vault with no promise of release. "God Gave Me Everything" was put forward as the lead single in October. By the end of the summer, "Goddess in the Doorway" was initially completed and the Kravitz-produced (and almost self-performed). While recording was underway, many of Jagger's musician friends, including Bono, Pete Townshend, Thomas, Kravitz, Jean and Joe Perry all made contributions. Townshend, in fact, was the initiating force behind the album. After having heard some of Jagger's demos, he told him that they didn't sound like Rolling Stones songs and that Jagger should record them on his own. This video is also available in FULL HD.
