The clip is taken from the 1975 movie 'Jacques Brel Is Alive And Well And Living In Paris'. The movie took its name from the off-broadway stage show, which opened in 1968 and ran for more than four years. Nowadays, the movie has become a cult classic, as well as occasional revivals of the stage show being performed here and there. Many serious critics of art and music would probably agree, that Jacques Brel was arguably the best songwriter of the 20th century, who performed with such incredible emotion, as can be clearly seen in the stunning black and white recording of his classic love song 'Ne Me Quitte Pas' (Don't leave Me), among many others. With that amazing performance of 'Ne Me Quitte Pas', it is very easy to believe that he was actually singing that song to a particular person during the performance of that song, because every single word is completely believable and it is definitely worth watching, even if you don't understand French, as it is completely spellbinding! There are several versions of that performance available online with English subtitles and I would recommend viewing it at some point, as it is a truly magnificent song, with an amazing performance to match the brilliance of the lyrics. This concert, from the Metropolitan in Rio de Janeiro, features Veloso singing classic Hispanic songs from the 1940s and 50s, presented in his own, very personal, way including Cucurrucucú Paloma as featured in Pedro Almodóvars 2002 film Talk to Her.
