Jackson 5 - Never Can Say Goodbye
Sometimes, happenstance plays an importance part in the making of hit records. Producer Hal Davis was in his Los Angeles office at Motown Records when he heard a catchy melody being played on a piano in the next room. Investigating, he found aspiring songwriter Clifton Davis who'd come to the label to shop his song "Never Can Say Goodbye" to its publishing firm, Jobete Music. Expressing interest in recording the song, Clifton was happily taken aback when Hal told him that he'd produced the Jackson 5's R&B/ pop chart-topper "I'll Be There." Producer Davis booked a recording session for that night, assembling such first-call talent as guitarist David T. Walker, Art Wright, drummer Gene Pello, bassist Bob West, and pianist Joe Sample of the Crusaders, some of whom had played on some of the J-5's biggest hits. The beautiful arrangement by Gene Page perfectly fits the quiet, introspective tone of the lyrics. It was also a very "grown up" ballad for the group and to some extent balanced out their " bubblegum soul" image. Amazing as it sounds, there was some dissent in the label's A&R department, with some thinking the record would blow a good thing by alienating the group's massive teen following. Luckily label founder Berry Gordy intervened and "Never Can Say Goodbye" topped the R&B charts for three weeks in spring 1971. Clifton also wrote another number one R&B hit for the Jackson 5, "Lookin' Through the Windows," and starred in the TV sitcoms That's My Mama and Amen.

It went to number one on the soul singles chart for four weeks and held the number-one position on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for the week ending January 31, 1970. "The Love You Save" is a 1970 number-one hit single recorded by The Jackson 5 for the Motown label. It held the number one spot on the soul singles chart for six weeks. It held the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for two weeks, from June 27 to July 4, 1970, replacing "The Long and Winding Road" by The Beatles, and replaced by "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)" by Three Dog Night. Jackson 5 Tribute HQ - Michael Jackson - This Is It - Love You Save and I'll Be There ------ Michael Jacksons This Is It is a 2009 American concert film documenting Michael Jacksons rehearsals of the concert series of the same name (scheduled to start on July 13, 2009, but cancelled because of his death on June 25, 2009), both on stage and behind the scenes. The film shows Jackson mentoring his team for the 50 shows, as well as him creating, developing, and ultimately staging the high-tech performances. The films director Ortega confirmed that when Jackson had filmed footage of himself rehearsing that he never had the intention of releasing it to the public, but after Jacksons death, it was agreed that the film be made and released for Jacksons fans. The footage was filmed at The Forum and the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Despite originally being set for an October 30, 2009, release date, the films release date was rescheduled for October 28, 2009; due to a strong demand by Jacksons fans. The was given a wide worldwide release and a limited two-week theatrical run from October 28, to November 12, 2009. Tickets went on sale a month early on September 27, 2009, to satisfy a high anticipated demand.
