Another Way to Die www.blacktree.tv A couple months ago, Alicia Keys talked about her desire to collaborate with the White Stripes. Shell have to settle for the next best thing, as Keys and Jack White are teaming up for the theme song of the next James Bond film Quantum of Solace. Another Way to Die was written by White, who will also play drums and produce the track. The song marks the first time in Bond history that the films theme will be a duet. When we reported that Keys wanted to collaborate with White, we assumed it was just wishful thinking. We didnt think itd come to fruition so quickly, or that theyd make a Bond theme out of it. The soundtrack for Quantum isnt due out until October 28th. The White combination beat out rumored candidates Amy Winehouse, Leona Lewis and Duffy for the right to try to join Duran Duran, Shirley Bassey and Carly Simon in the Bond theme hall of fame. Flexi Disc Balloon Launch for Jack White - Freedom At 21
Three weeks before his "Blunderbuss" album hits the streets, Third Man Records decided to make the Jack White album track "Freedom at 21" premier exclusively via flexi-disc records attached to helium balloons launched from the label headquarters in Nashville on April 1st, 2012. Envisioned as an experiment exploring non-traditional forms of record distribution and a way to get records in the hands of people who don't visit record shops, the label was sure to use biodegradable latex balloons and all-natural twine in the process. Accompanying the balloons were custom post cards with instructions for the finders to submit photos, discovery location and the date on which the record was found, all of which will be incorporated into a website where fans can access the information. Statistics for similar balloon launches show a recovery rate of approximately 10% so it's quite possible that less than one hundred of the one thousand records launched will ever be discovered and the "Freedom at 21" flexi-disc will surely be a highly sought-after collectible for years to come. He was best known as the guitarist, pianist and lead vocalist of The White Stripes until they split in February 2011, as well as a member of The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather. He is ranked #70 on Rolling Stone's list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time". White's popular and critical success with The White Stripes enabled him to collaborate as a solo artist with other renowned musicians, such as Beck, The Rolling Stones, Jeff Beck, Alicia Keys, Bob Dylan, Electric Six, Insane Clown Posse, and Loretta Lynn, whose 2004 album Van Lear Rose he produced and performed on. In 2006, White became a founding member of the rock band The Raconteurs. In 2009, he became a founding member and drummer of his third commercially successful group, The Dead Weather.
