Billing itself as "Memphis' Oldest Café," The Arcade Restaurant has been at the corner of Memphis' South Main Street and GE Patterson Boulevard since 1919. Just steps away from the train station, the restaurant has seen its surroundings rise, fall, and rise again with the fortunes of the city. Once the bustling heart of Memphis' downtown, the neighborhood around the Arcade fell into decline in the 1970s and '80s. By the time Jim Jarmusch arrived to shoot his 1989 film Mystery Train, hard times had overtaken what had become an especially seedy part of town. But as Sherman Willmott—who worked as a production assistant on the film—tells us in this installment of Pop Pilgrims, the Arcade remained a "beacon" through it all, serving up reliably delicious food 24 hours a day in a classic diner setting. Besides, the surrounding seediness suited the needs of Jarmusch's film. With overlapping stories that converge at the dilapidated Arcade Hotel—torn down shortly after Mystery Train shot there—it's a film partly about how the legends of the city's past intersect with the everyday present, and how newcomers sometimes have trouble discerning the mundane from the mythic. In a neat twist, Jarmusch's decision to shoot in Memphis' less-reputable corners had an unexpected impact on the city's onscreen life. I really loved Crowley's words about Sam being well and truly on his own, so I thought I'd discover this theme. There's just so much a person can take before he gives up, right? And we now have seen quite a few times how the boys were this close to giving up. It always provides a lot of meta and all, so this is my way of coping with how the season ended. What are you opinions? Did you like it? Did you not? Were you disappointed? Were you surprised? Were you happy the season ended the way it did? I kinda am. It gives us a very good base for all the angst in season 8 which, hopefully, we'll see next fall. Hello there! (Reddit name: MaxSGB) Here is the project I've been working on ^.^ Specs: 6 digit addition and subtraction, 3 digit multiplication, division and trigonometric/scientific functions. (The reason these are only 3 digits is because multiplication and division would take a long time to decode/complete/encode. Also, the fraction display is hard enough to build for 3 digits, let alone 6 - 6 digit RAM would not only be massive, but a bit pointless since the curves follow the same pattern surrounding the peaks.). Graphing y=mx+c functions, quadratic functions, and equation solving of the form mx+c=0. The screen and keypad were always meant to be the main feature of this machine. The main display boasts 25 digits. Square root signs are displayed and can change to accommodate any number of digits. Square root signs, add, minus, multiply and divide signs are displayed at appropriate times, and there is a full fraction display. The 7-segments for the fractions are the smallest possible, being only 3 wide, and stackable vertically and horizontally. I made a custom texture pack for the keypad, and made wooden pressure plates invisible in order to get the best effect. The calculator itself is just over 250x200x100 blocks. It contains 2 6-digit BCD number selectors, 2 BCD-to-binary decoders, 3 binary-to-BCD decoders, 6 BCD adders and subtractors, a 20 bit (output) multiplier, 10 bit divider, a memory bank and additional circuitry for the graphing function. This exercise itself focus on mental strength and the ability to "just do it" and dive into the water without any previous experience with the dive itself. The pool is a normal public pool, therefore the slides in the background. For the soldiers, they are conscript in the Norwegian Army, with a total service of one year. In that year they serve in far north of Norway, where they operate in temperatures down and below -40 Celsius. After that, they may join the professional part of the norwegian military. If you have anything rude to say, just keep it to yourself. The girl is one of few girls who manage one year in the army as a conscript. Believe it or not, she is a good solider. ...it's for this girl, anyway. But what has been surprising to me has been the volume of comments from males (and females) who say they would never shoot the Smith and Wesson Model 500. As with any firearm, it should be taken seriously and handled with caution, but that doesn't mean it should be feared. The .500 Magnum rounds have some mad kick, but that doesn't make the Model 500 uncontrollable. It just means that the shooter needs to exercise some extra force of grip, and use both hands. The experience of shooting the Model 500 reminds me of punching a weight bag. When you hit a punching bag, you can feel the impact where your fist connects the bag, but it travels up through your wrist, your arm, and your shoulder. The kick of the .500 Magnum is similar. When you shoot, you feel the recoil in your grip, but it also rocks back into your wrists and arms. I even feel the muscles in my shoulders and upper back tensing more with the extra effort that magnitude of recoil requires. Now, what could be the use of a hand cannon like that? Other than, maybe bear hunting, or the occasional Godzilla sighting, I can't see a real practical application for the Model 500. I mean, the gun itself is a whopping 56oz (specifically the model with the 3" barrel and 1" compensator - the longer barreled models are even heavier), so toting it around is a chore in and of itself. Amazing Scary Huntsman Spiders Need Help Too
This spider came into our home last week. Only mistake she made was walking over the surface spray, and consequently it got very sick. However after realising it had poison on its feet, it stopped cleaning itself, and over the time period of one week, it semi revived itself. Having not seen it and thinking it had gone somewhere to die I had forgotten bout it, until it came walking up my leg. Im sure it was coming to me for help as it had accumulated a lot of dust and needed a helping hand to clean it's legs. You can see she actually holds her legs up to be cleaned. If this video attracts any interest I will upload the other 4 videos I took of it. Among past threats to the republic-the great hyperspace war stands above all other wars in galactic history. In fact, the battle we fight today is in many ways an extension of this same conflict. The sith empire we believed we had destroyed in this war has now returned to avenge its defeat. The historical factors that set the stage for the modern conflict bear close examination. Whether by chance or by destiny, it was at this time that two republic explorers stumbled onto korriban. Naga sadow seized this opportunity to gain political advantage.
