"New York New York I won't go back..." With lyrics like that the only thing I could conjure was the fact that they could not hang. Images depict the most harsh atmosphere of New York and is no intention to create animosity. Just for fun and simply going by lyrics.

Community Fiber Networks Are Faster, Cheaper Than Incumbents
Digging into the reality of community broadband - we compare the broadband prices and speeds of community networks to incumbent providers, using examples from North Carolina that are representative of modern community fiber networks. Incumbent providers including AT&T, Comcast, and Time Warner Cable want to outlaw these networks even as many, including the Federal Communications Commission, recognize the clear benefits of allowing communities to decide locally whether such an investment makes sense.

Sudan's incumbent president wins re-election
www.timesofearth.com KHARTOUM, Sudan -- Omar Hassan al-Bashir, Sudan's incumbent president, has won another term after the country's first multi-party presidential poll in 24 years. Al-Bashir had been widely expected to retain the presidency after a number of opposition parties withdrew their candidates, but the official announcement of the results on Monday confirmed his victory with 68 per cent of the vote. "The first [was] Omar Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir. He was the candidate and won," Abel Alier, the chairman of Sudan's National Elections Commission, said. The election commission also announced that Salva Kiir, the leader of the former rebel Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM), won re-election in the presidential poll in Sudan's semi-autonomous southern region. Kiir, a former rebel commander, won 92.9 per cent of the 2616613 votes in the South, Alier, the commission chairman, said. Sudan's elections were set up under a 2005 peace accord that ended more than two decades of north-south civil war and saw the formation of a power-sharing agreement between Kiir's SPLM and Bashir's National Congress Party (NCP). The results followed widespread accusations of voter fraud and polling irregularities in the presidential, parliamentary and regional elections. The main opposition parties decided to boycott some aspects of the polls, accusing al-Bashir of widespread vote rigging. Hafez Mohammed, the director of Justice Africa, a research and advocacy group in Khartoum, said the ...

disruptive innovation
For the last few years I have been fascinated with Clayton Christensen's theory of disruptive innovation and its application to business, politics, education, and insurgency models. What I find most interesting is that his theory, featured in both "The Innovators Dilemma" and "The Innovators Solution" provides a prescription for a small entrant with less resources to compete with and beat a large incumbent. To understand his theory we begin by looking at a set of customers for a good or service. A simplified segmentation of the market is defined as non consumers, mainstream customers, and higher end customers. The incumbent starts by creating a good or service that appeals to the mainstream consumer. Upon reaching market segment saturation, the company looks up market and innovates on the product to capture the higher end more margin rich segment. Often tech companies competing in the same market play this leap frog game of matching innovation to control more of the commodity market. Clayton defines these as sustaining innovations. In business the process is called profit maximizing resource allocation and the right competitor can use it to force an incumbent out the top end of the market. By continuing to innovate, the incumbent creates bloated products or services that have more value or performance than the consumer can utilize. The logic is that if I can please my most demanding customers then my main stream customers will be also be satisfied, but in reality it ...

President Barack Obama Wins Reelection - August 31, 2011
President Barack Obama will be reelected, as we predicted long ago, and now, one of the most telling signs is up and ready for viewing. "When five or fewer statements are false, the incumbent party wins the popular vote. When six or more are false, the challenging party wins. Historian Allan J. Lichtman's answers for the 2008 presidential election are in bold. 1. After the midterm elections, the incumbent party holds more seats in the US House of Representatives than it did after the previous midterm elections. FALSE 2. There is no serious contest for the incumbent party nomination. TRUE (Lichtman defines a serious contest as one that is not decided before the party's convention.) 3. The incumbent party candidate is the sitting president. FALSE 4. There is no significant third-party or independent campaign. TRUE (A significant third-party candidate is one with a realistic chance of getting 5 percent or more of the popular vote.) 5. The economy is not in recession during the election campaign. TRUE (Economists define recession as two consecutive quarters of falling gross national product (GNP), a condition that has not occurred in the United States in 2008.) 6. Real per-capita economic growth during the term equals or exceeds mean growth during the previous two terms. FALSE 7. The incumbent administration effects major changes in national policy. FALSE 8. There is no sustained social unrest during the term. TRUE 9. The incumbent administration is untainted by major scandal ...

DAP Fong po Kuan Quits GE 2008 Contest - 17 Feb 2008
ore Detaisl at powerpresent.blogspot.com The incumbent Batu Gajah MP bad relationship with DAP Perk state leders had finally erupted in the open when she preferred to throw in the towel to contest any seats in the coming 12 GE rather than to show her "fighting spirit" in another seat. It is hard for her as a two-term PM to listen to suggestions from Party leaders as she seems to have the "smarter-than-thou" attitude. With her experience, popularity and the winds of change blowing in DAP's direction, she could have happily took on any seat in Johore and fight for another win. The same can be said for the Bagan team where Phee Boon Poh also threathend to do the same (see Below Report ) But no, she prefers to quit rather than be a sacrificial lamb in a defeat. And probably her new wedded husband has advised her that it could be political suicide to go for a Johor seat with Chua Soi Lek in control. Her decision is decided in anger and with a condition for further support for her recommended candidate to replace her. This is not the first time we have seen the DAP encountering such problems. People who are too egoistic, larger than life and without realizing it is the Party that have given them a life to be an MP. Nixon the Man Ad: Nixon 1972 Presidential Campaign Commercial
thefilmarchive.org Richard Nixon was a popular incumbent president in 1972, as he seemed to have reached détente with the People's Republic of China and the Soviet Union. Polls showed that Nixon held a strong lead in the Republican primaries. He was challenged by two minor candidates, liberal Pete McCloskey of California and conservative John Ashbrook of Ohio. McCloskey ran as an anti-war and anti-Nixon candidate, while Ashbrook opposed Nixon's détente policies towards China and the Soviet Union. In the New Hampshire primary McCloskey's platform of peace garnered 11% of the vote to Nixon's 83%, with Ashbrook receiving 6%. Nixon won 1323 of the 1324 delegates to the Republican convention, with McCloskey receiving the vote of one delegate from New Mexico. George McGovern ran on a platform of ending the Vietnam War and instituting guaranteed minimum incomes for the nation's poor. His campaign was greatly crippled because of the electro-shock therapy controversy involving his original running mate, and because his views during the primaries had alienated many powerful Democrats. With McGovern's presence weakened by these factors, the Republicans successfully portrayed him as a half-crazy radical, and McGovern suffered a landslide defeat of 61%--38% to Nixon. Richard Nixon, who has been called "the greatest school desegregator in American history" by historian Dean Kotlowski due to his compliance with a 1971 Supreme Court ruling mandating desegregation, was in favor of ...

BJ Lawson vs. David Price: Candidate Forum (1 of 6)
Opening statements. Republican challenger BJ Lawson and Democratic incumbent David Price meet at a recent candidate forum held by the Chamber of Commerce. Almost all of the questions pertained to the economy and job creation. The choice was clear and the crowd clearly preferred Lawson's common sense principles of less government and local control over Price's government fits all mentality. In 2010 voters have a choice: David Price - Congressman David Price is a Political Science Professor, 22-year incumbent politician who supports government bailouts, social welfare programs, protecting the environment and Obama's Health Care reform. He votes with Nancy Pelosi more than any other congressman. or BJ Lawson - William BJ Lawson is a Constitutional Conservative, father, Medical Doctor, engineer and small businessman who supports reducing taxes, cutting spending and repealing unconstitutional legislation. 4th district voters will choose principle over Washington rhetoric this November. www.lawsonforcongress.com
John J Sullivan (FEC Commission) Right To Work Obama Administration Personnel Alert
The phrase of the week has been life experience regarding President Obamas Supreme Court nomination. So, todays National Right To Work Committee alert looks at the real life experience of Federal Election Board nominee John Sullivan. From his time as a Steelworkers Union President (1978) through today, Sullivans working life experience has been focused on defending the actions of labor union bosses and promoting their forced-dues power. Even during his brief time as a Teamsters Election Officer Counsel, the public record available indicates that his actions supported power grabs by corrupt, incumbent union bosses. In one case, he represented the Election Officer in his demand to disclose personal information about those who supported the incumbent Teamster boss opponents. Sullivans legal positions must have impressed some Teamster union bosses because soon-to-be barred-for-life Teamster Boss Ron Carey hired Sullivan to be the Teamster Associate General Counsel. While Sullivan was Teamster Counsel, the Teamsters and multiple organizations, including the Clinton White House and the Democrat National Committee, devised and pursued a multi-million dollar election campaign finance money laundering scheme. This scheme directly involved familiar names like Terry McAuliffe and Harold Ickes. Despite the legal efforts of Sullivan and other Teamster lawyers, the federal government took the extreme and rare step of barring Sullivans boss, Ron Carey, for life from the Teamsters union ...
