This video is one about implying terrible tragedies. The technique is actually a lot more effective if there's a genuine terrible tragedy that you would reference; using it in this situation has the additional risk of incurring the wrath of people who would take that terrible tragedy seriously, however. The 'fair enough' factor of this wrath is directly proportionate to the terror of the tragedy. I guess what I'm trying to say is implied lies are only okay if they're not true.

The Who - Abbie Hoffman incident - Woodstock 1969
In the seconds immediately after The Who concluded "Pinball Wizard", from Tommy, Hoffman, who had ingested LSD after working the past few hours at the medical tent, abruptly walked onto the stage and began addressing the crowd from Pete Townshend's microphone. He shouted, "I think this is a pile of shit! ... While John Sinclair rots in prison ..." Alerted to the disturbance, Townshend (who apparently had been too distracted to notice Hoffman ambling onto the platform), snarled at Hoffman, "Fuck off! Fuck off my fucking stage!" He then struck Hoffman with his guitar, sending the interloper tumbling. As the crowd let out an approving roar, Townshend returned to his microphone to add a sarcastic "I can dig it!" Following the conclusion of the next song, the short "Do You Think It's Alright?", Townshend issued a stern warning to those in attendance: "The next fucking person that walks across this stage is gonna get fucking killed, alright? You can laugh, [but] I mean it!" Townshend later said he actually agreed with Hoffman on Sinclair's imprisonment, though he insisted he would have knocked Hoffman off stage regardless of his message. The incident can be heard in its entirety on unedited Woodstock tapes and bootleg CDs of The Who's performance. Additionally, an edited fifteen-second sound bite of the incident can be heard on The Who compilation set Thirty Years of Maximum R&B (Disc 2). The Woodstock documentary also depicts this event.

STS-75 Tether Incident On Sunday, February 25, 1996, the Space Shuttle Columbia deployed an experimental tether into orbit. The experiment was called the Tethered Satellite System (TSS- 1R) and it's purpose of this was to attempt to generate electricity by utilizing Earth's magnetic field. Unfortunately the tether broke so the experiment was not a success, although approximately five hours of data were recorded. The 228 Incident (228 Massacre) - 60 years on, Part 1/3
Looking at some of the victims of the 228 Massacre of 1947. Part 1 tells the viewers about how widespread the events were and introduces Ouyang Wen (歐陽文). The massacre was set in motion on February 27, 1947 when Chinese agents from the Tobacco Monopoly Bureau in Taipei pistol whipped a cigarette vendor and shot a bystander before fleeing to a nearby police staation. The public quickly surrounded the station demanding justice, but the shooter had snuck out of a back exit. More demonstrations happened the next day, and Chinese security forces used machine guns against the unarmed protesters. That same day, martial law -- which lasted until 1987 -- was declared. Chen Yi, the Governor-General in charge of Taiwan, rounded up leaders island-wide, executing thousands. Taiwanese leaders were lured by the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) under the pretense of negotiations and were instead executed as well. In total, perhaps 30000 people were killed, and thousands of others were imprisoned on false charges. Mr. Ouyang reflects on the massacre, telling us about the bravery of young female students who brought zongzi (a kind of rice dumpling) to him and his fellow fighters, and how he can still remember the taste. Be careful to distinguish what's real footage and what's a reenactment. thefilmarchive.org In 1992, Crash at Corona, written by Stanton Friedman and Don Berliner, suggested a high-level cover-up of a UFO recovery, based on documents they obtained such as the Majestic 12 archive. These documents were anonymously dropped off at a UFO researcher's house in 1984 and purported to be 1952 briefing papers for incoming President Dwight Eisenhower describing a high-level government agency whose purpose was to investigate aliens recovered at Roswell and to keep such information hidden from public view. Friedman had done much of the research for The Roswell Incident with William Moore, and Crash at Corona built on that research. The title contains Corona instead of Roswell as Corona is geographically closer to the Foster ranch crash site. The time-line is largely the same as previously, with Marcel and Cavitt visiting the ranch on Sunday, July 6. But the book says that Brazel was "taken into custody for about a week" and escorted into the offices of the Roswell Daily Record on July 10 where he gave an account he was told to give by the government. A sign of the disputes between various researchers is on display as Friedman and Berliner move the Barnett account back to near Socorro and introduce a new eyewitness account of the site from Gerald Anderson who provided vivid descriptions of both a downed alien craft and four aliens, of which at least one was alive. RIP DAN WHELDON you will always be remembered hearts out to all family members your hier Was a Legend Sam Schmidt Motorsports driver Dan Wheldon was killed in an accident early in the Las Vegas Indy 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday. Wheldon's No. 77 Dallara/Honda was caught up in a 15-car accident that sent the Englishman's car into the catch-fence above the SAFER barrier between Turns 1 and 2 of the high-speed oval raceway and back onto the track in a flaming wreck. Safety crews removed the stricken driver immediately to the racetrack's infield medical center for resuscitation and Wheldon was shortly thereafter transported by helicopter to University of Las Vegas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The accident left the large IndyCar field with only 19 drivable cars and a huge debris field on the racing surface that took over 90 minutes to clear. A sense of dread began to settle in over drivers and crews within minutes of the incident as medical updates on Wheldon's condition failed to arrive from the infield care area. A drivers meeting shortly after 5:30 PM EDT concluded with an announcement from IndyCar Series President Randy Barnard that said, "Dan Wheldon has succumbed to unsurvivable injuries incurred in the accident."
