Victor Borge improvising on the piano
Victor has just finished conducting at one of his 80th birthday concerts and the crowd reaction was so good that the violinist, Anton Kontra, suggests an encore. No encore was planned but Monti's Czardas, which Victor had heard before BUT HAD NEVER PLAYED, is suggested. Nevertheless, the two go at it and put on quite a show. Watch Victor's facial expressions in the 2nd half as his partner escalates the action.

Kirk Lorange | Little Wing Slide Guitar improvisation
Here's some improvisation over a home made midi track of this (slightly doctored) famous chord progression. In dropped D tuning, playing through a DigiTech RP100 using a heavy brass slide. Visit the site ( www.bottleneckguitar.com ) for more info on slide in standard and dropped D. I don't ever think scales when improvising like this, I follow the chords. . The trick is to be able to see the whole fretboard as 'the chord', which is what my book package PlaneTalk teaches. Music is by: youtube.com --- Ingredients and instructions: Marinade: For 1000 grams of chicken, 1 part equals around 1 tablespoon (15 ml). Mix the dry ingredients: 0.25 parts Chili Flakes 0.5 parts Chili Powder 1 part Nutmeg 1 part Brown Sugar 1 part Garlic Powder 1 part Ground Ginger 2 parts Garam Masala 2 parts Dried Coriander 4 parts Ground Cumin 2 Bay Leaves Mix the wet ingredients: 0.5 DL Tomato Pureé 1 Lime (juice) 5 DL Unsweetened Yoghurt Add diced chicken Refridgirate for at least 4 hours, or over night. Roland Piano Improvisation (Roland RD-700SX)
Little improvisation on my Roland RD-700SX. I decided to upload some more of my "usual stuff" - perhaps some of you will like it!! So let me know! ;-) The chords and melody are based on a dutch gospel / worship song written by Marcel Zimmer called "Aan uw voeten Heer". You can download a package I made for the ones who want to learn to play the song, consisting of a MIDI, MP3 and PDF file. Have a look at www.simonbrenner.org The MIDI and the MP3 aren't exactly what I'm playing in the video because they are created afterwards due to many requests. Please excuse the relatively bad sound quality and the little audio delay in the vid!!! :-| I wish you all a Happy New Year!! ;-) Go and download my music on www.simband.org PS Due to the increasing number of questions about the exact settings I made for the sound, here's what I did: Basically, I used patch nr. 005 of the piano section ("X-Pure Grand") and added some equalizer settings. The numeric values are: low: +4.8 dB, 100 Hz, 1.0 Q mid: +7.2 dB, 1250 Hz, 2.0 Q high: +8.6 dB, 10000 Hz, 0.5 Q And then, like i always do, i set the "Key Touch" to "Light" to achieve a harder sound. :-)

Amazing Grace Pipe Organ Improvisation Gerre Hancock
The master improviser, organist & choirmaster at St. Thomas for over 30 years, recorded (I think) in 1976. After retiring from his position at St. Thomas, Dr. Hancock joined the faculty at the University of Texas. He died on Jan.21, 2012. The St. Thomas organ has evolved from a 1913 Skinner IV/77 into a IV/158. It underwent a total re-build/restoration in 1956 by Aeolian-Skinner -- the last project of G. Donald Harrison -- & has seen a couple of revisions since then.
