EUROPEAN IMPERIALISM IN AFRICA

European Imperialism in Africa

American Imperialism

America's plan on dealing with the dwindling oil resources and their plans for the middle east. American Imperialism.

European Imperialism

This is school project some friends and I made. They went out and got the info and I put the video together. I guess we did a good job 'cause we aced it. XD The music in this is by James Newton Howard from Lady in the Water. I chose it because it seemed fitting to the topic what with the cocky European nations feeling the need to take over Africa simply because they felt superior so yes, it is a tad dramatic. :D

American Imperialism timeline - Part 1

These are well documented historical facts summarized in order to get these events out there in the public. I apologize for not including other key facts and important roles played during these times, but there is enough information for anyone to go and do further research on the matter. At the end of Part 2 are several questions I hope the viewer will consider. All comments are appreciated.

Resources here (scroll past transcript): pinkyshow.org Hawaii is the 50th state of the USA, right? (Well, actually "no"...) Pinky zooms through 500 years of the history of imperialism in order to explain why the US has worked so hard to obscure the truth about Hawaii.

Chomsky: History of US Imperialism -1/7

Noam Chomsky - arguably the most famous Western intellectual and dissident alive today - interprets former President Bush's foreign policy actions (such as the Iraq war) in the long history of American Imperialism. He points out how the US was founded as an Empire -contrary to popular perception - and has been driven since inception again, contrary to popular perception - by an "expansion is the path to security" strategy. This lecture was delivered at Boston University in the United States on April 24th, 2008 under the title of "Modern-Day American Imperialism: Middle East and Beyond". PLEASE READ MY COMMENTS ON THE VIDEO BEFORE WATCHING.

Download: www.archive.org US Imperialism 1900-2010. Timeline of United States military operations; dates show the year in which the US dispatched troops. Check out: The East-West dichotomy, by Thorsten Pattberg; www.east-west-dichotomy.com The complete list can be found in Wikipedia 'Timeline of United States military operations' which uses CIA-based sources and a list published by the 'Committee on Foreign Affairs'. On a side note, no social theory (as opposed to biological ones) has ever been proposed to sufficiently explain human nature and how to prevent wars and imperialism. Despite the invention of internet and iphone, we are still lagging behind in the humanties. We still fight wars and attempts of imperalism with wars and attempted imperialism. That's why Noam Chomsky hit a nerve when he proclaimed "The United States is a Leading Terrorist State". Thanks to Wetoldyouso1 for editing this video. It was done with Windows Movie Maker. 15. Imperialists and Boy Scouts

European Civilization, 1648-1945 (HIST 202) The boom in European colonial expansion in the second half of the nineteenth century, the so-called New Imperialism, can be seen to follow from three principle factors, in ascending order of importance: religious proselytizing, profit, and inter-imperial political strategy. With respect to the latter concern, the conflicts emerging from imperialism set the stage for World War I. Along with its military and industrial consequences, imperialism also entailed a large-scale cultural program dedicated to strengthening support for its objectives among the domestic populations of the imperial powers. The creation of the Boy Scouts is an exemplary form of such a program, founded upon a mythology of the American frontier reformulated to encompass Africa and Asia. 00:00 - Chapter 1. 12. French Imperialism (Guest Lecture by Charles Keith)

France Since 1871 (HIST 276) France's colonial properties were thought of in the latter half of the nineteenth century as consolation for the bitter loss of Alsace and Lorraine to Germany. As civilian administrators came to replace military personnel in the colonies, and as more and more French settlers arrived, empire and colonialism came to play an important function in France's cultural self-presentation. World War I heralded the eventual decline of the French empire, a decline realized at the hands of the colonized subjects themselves. 00:00 - Chapter 1. Buried Inside - Time as Imperialism

Artist: Buried Inside Track: Time as Imperialism Album: Chronoclast Relapse (R) Support music by buying the album. Lyrics: The calendar year is an imperial narrative. The seven-day week is an imperial infliction. Circannual holidays are imperial flag-posts. Mechanical time is an imperial installation. The merchant workday is an imperial offering. Greenwich MeanTime is an imperial sanction. The looming weight, uniformly imposed; as albatross and as anchor. The new time-imperialists will get their way with those left: the rural, the feral, the frail. Feed them a thread, that leads to a string. They'll follow the string, until it leads to a rope, and from that rope every vestige of what was will be hung by the neck.

Lowkey: 'Bush imperialism continues under Obama'

President Barak Obama says now is the time to make a change in the Middle East and North Africa. Will he take the peaceful route as he promised back on the campaign trail, though? Musician, poet and playwright Lowkey doubts the President is sincere and that, rather, his message is falling on deaf ears. Obama, says Lowkey, was elected on the promise of being everything George W. Bush wasn't. Donald Rumsfeld thinks Obama has kept all those policies he intended on straying from, but according to Lowkey, the administration has only extended them further by driving America further into war and doing more harm than good overseas.

LowKey: Libya war imperialist hypocrisy

Britain, France and the US are interested in sustaining the civil war in Libya in order to secure access to oil and ongoing military contracts. "It's about sustaining the period of civil war and thus destabilizing the revolutions which took place in Tunisia and Egypt," says rapper and activist LowKey. It's more about ongoing imperialism and the military industrial complex than aiding the people and highlights US hypocrisy.

US imperialism in full view

In 1989 the United States invaded Panama; the mission was codenamed Operation Just Cause. However, was it really a just cause? Hornberger and Ithaca College Journalism Professor Jeff Cohen to discuss the US invasion of Panama and US imperialism.
