We Will Survive: Igudesman & Joo + Kremer & Kremerata
To see upcoming performances of Igudesman & Joo visit our website www.igudesmanandjoo.com Our new title for the show is - BEING GIDON KREMER: The Rise and Fall of the Classical Musician Written by: Kremer, Igudesman & Joo Without music life would be a mistake. Friedrich Nietzsche Dear Concertgoer! Music and humor—both are languages of the emotions. Join us on a journey through our wacky hall of mirrors and see for yourself all the weird and wonderful ways these two languages come together to reflect the Zeitgeist of the new millennium. We live in an age in which the market economy tyrannizes over art. The quality of an artwork is judged by the quantity of sales. We all squint at the sales-volume statistics, the chart placement and the commercial media presence. The more popular, the better. Everyone wants to be a superstar! But in consequence, we all too often lose sight of the true meaning of music: the uplifting union of feeling and intellect, the intimate and profoundly emotional expression of the soul. BEING GIDON KREMER takes a critical and entertaining look at classical music through a magnifying glass. By means of this close-up, we hope to achieve a healthy distance from all forms of commercial dumbing-down. So lets laugh together about whats laughable, and marvel afresh at musics endless marvels! We wish you a wonderful musical journey! We, meaning Gidon Kremer and the Kremerata Baltica, Aleksey Igudesman and Richard Hyung-ki Joo. Music in its most beautiful form ...
The Igudesman and Joo UNICEF World Record of the Most Dancing Violinists
Igudesman and Joo searched the world and recruited the greatest dancing violinists who travelled at their own expense to create a world record of the Igudesman and Joo "Most Dancing Violinists" for UNICEF. Conducted by legendary Bond actor and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Sir Roger Moore, and ably assisted by the violin virtuoso Julian Rachlin, the Morrison Jig came alive in a unique way as they created the world record they journeyed so far and wide to achieve. Igudesman/Strauss: Kukuck
JOHANN & ALEKSEY Strauss in Russia, Igudesman in Vienna Aleksey Igudesman, Violine, Voice, Directing Ambassade Orchester Wien Live from the Konzerthaus, Vienna "On his summer trips, Johann Strauss was often seen strolling with Maria Olgovna, Aleksey Igudesmans great-great-grandmother in the Pavlovsk Forest. Although Strauss spoke no Russian and Maria no German, a deep, spiritual bond formed between them. The unexpected birth of Maria's illegitimate child has led to great speculation." Is Aleksey Igudesman really Strauss great-great-grandson? We dont know. However, both share a unique feeling for harmony, melody and humor. Although over 100 years separate them stylistically and historically, Igudesmans compositions seem to be have a similar spirit to Strauss's unforgetable works. Igudesmans performs works by Johann Strauss as well as own composition, such as works, such as "New Years Polka", "Bulgarian Waltz and "Crazy Bell Polka". www.igudesmanandjoo.com

Uruguay - Gürtler & Igudesman
The DVD is available online: www.alekseyigudesman.com Aleksey Igudesman & Sebastian Gürtler, together with the Upper Austrian Youth Orchestra in a project called "The Cyber Conductor". This is a piece called "Uruguay" composed by Aleksey Igudesman. Now yes, Igudesman is very well aware that the "traditional" music in Uruguay is different. You have Tangos and Milongas, much like in Argentina. He has been there several times, loved the people and loved the music. The point is, he writes in his own style, which in this case happens to be Jewish-Russian-Latin American-weird mix. He is also aware that it can get cold in winter, which is Europes summer and the other way round, or something. Just because Igudesman sings something, it doesnt have to be the truth. As some people might have noticed, he uses "humour" which can ocassionally result in bending of facts. And last but not least, he did love being there, thats why he wrote the song and performed it there and in other parts of the world in front of many people who seem to enjoy it. Its better than writing an "authentic" Tango (this being a dance that is not authentic in the first place, since it is inspired by many cultures) or Milonga and saying that Uruguay is crap, don't you think? Anyway, he extends his greetings to all the wonderful people of Uruguay, Uganda and Utopia and wants to say two things: Piece. And Love. And Happiness. Sorry, three things: Piece, love, happiness and contentment. Four things...
