Iceland's super-volcano threatens to erupt
Volcanic eruptions in Iceland are capable of affecting air traffic across Europe, as the Eyjafjallajokull volcano showed by grounding flights for a week in 2010. Now, recent tremors around the much larger Katla volcano indicate that it may be nearing eruption as well. Experts are concerned that such an event could bring global travel disruptions and flooding from melted glaciers. Al Jazeera's Barnaby Phillips reports from southern Iceland.

The Iceland Worm Monster (Lagarfljóts Worm) Caught on Camera[Original]
News Update (10 Feb 2012):"Video is NOT Fake or Staged"- Interview with Hjörtur Kjerúlf (67-year-old farmer who filmed this video) by RÚV www.ruv.is (6 Feb 2012) The Lagarfljótsormur, Lagarfljotsormurinn, Lagarfljót worm or simply Iceland Worm Monster( or Iceland's Loch Ness Monster ) is an Icelandic lake cryptid. The worm is purportedly located in Lagarfljót Lake, a freshwater, below-sea-level, glacial-fed body of water in Egilsstaðir. The water visibility is incredibly poor as a result of siltation, and the creature--if it does exist--has not been scientifically studied. Sightings have been consistently logged since 1345. There are many stories about kynjaskepnur, that is, strange animals or unknown phenomena, in Lagarfljót. The worm-like creature is presumed to be longer than a football field, or 300 feet (91 m), and has been seen coiled near the shore by countless eyewitnesses. According to reports, it has been spotted in both water and dry land. It is believed that it can slither onto land. This video is from IRíkisútvarpið RÚV - The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service www.ruv.is RÚV informed me that this video was taken by a farmer called Hjörtur Kjerúlf Hjörtur Kjerúlf captured the giant, icy snake swimming in the Jökulsá í Fljótsdal river, which empties into Lake Lagarfljót. The footage shows a crocodilian-like creature or a giant snake skimming the water surface of a frozen lake. But Reptiles in cold climates?

Video of Iceland volcano eruption, giant ash clouds from Grimsvotn
Iceland's imposed a flight ban and closed its main airport after the country's most active volcano, Grimsvotn, erupted. It lies under the uninhabited Vatnajokull glacier in southeast Iceland and has been dormant for 7 years. A large plume of smoke and ash is stretching 20 km into the air. Iceland's Meteorological Office says that the eruption at the Grimsvotn volcano has been accompanied by a series of small earthquakes. Scientists have been expecting a new eruption and have said previously that this volcano's eruption will likely be small and should not lead to the air travel chaos caused in April 2010 by ash from the Eyjafjallajokul volcano. Iceland Forces Debt Forgiveness : MEDIA BLACKOUT The Biggest Story of 2012
So in summary of the Icelandic revolution: The Icelandic people have been able to show that there is a way to beat the system and has given a democracy lesson to the world -resignation of the whole government -nationalization of the bank. -referendum so that the people can decide over the economic decisions. -incarcerating the responsible parties -rewriting of the constitution by its people This move is what got Julius Ceasar killed in ancient Rome. He reduced the mortgage debt of the population by 50%. This would be a viable solution to the problem. Bank shareholders and holders of mortgage debt instruments would suffer, so your life insurance policy and retirement savings might become worthless, but your house would be clear title. Every American Need 2 Follow Suite With This This is awesome. It shows when the people DO STAND UP they have more power and win against the corrupt bankers and politicians of a country. Iceland is forgiving and erasing the mortgage debt of the population. They are putting the bankers and politicians on the "Bench of the Accused." Which means I assume they are putting them on trial for corruption. Now the rest of people of the world need to start doing the same thing. We all need to stand up and against all the corruption and fraud of the banks and politicians that are puppets of the banks and corporations. The government of Iceland has forgiven the mortgage debt for much of its population. This nation chose a very different way of stopping ...

Must see! Iceland is prosecuting PM for not stopping the $$ bubble
Egill Helgason, Public Affairs Host on Icelandic TV joins Thom Hartmann. Meet Geir Haarde - the former Prime Minister of Iceland who was in court today facing charges related to Iceland's economic meltdown. Haarde is being charged with negligence for failing to prevent his nation's banks from going under in 2008 - taking the entire nation down with them - and eventually costing him his job in 2009. And today - he is the only world leader so far to be charged with crimes related to the global financial crisis. According to a recent report commissioned by Iceland's Parliament - Haarde and his government "lacked both the power and the courage to set reasonable limits to the financial system." But is that really a crime? And what might a conviction of a world leader mean for others whose fingerprints are all over the financial panic of 2008?

In Iceland, fairies, elves and trolls triumph over scepticism. Fearful of reprisals -- or just a bit of elfish mischief, ministers were recently forced to back down on a road building project over elf territory. Foolish is he who fears not the wrath of a displaced elf. Produced by ABC Australia Distributed by Journeyman Pictures
