Make Any iBook Into An Audiobook For Free On iPhone, iPod Touch, & iPad - iOS Vlog 588
The other day I was reading an iBook and wondered if there was an easier way to do this. I know you can download audiobooks and have books read to you through specific applications but how about one that just requires and iPhone, iPod touch, or an iPad and is free? Well you basically have an audiobook or auto-reader feature within the VoiceOver setting. By enabling Triple-Click home to turn on VoiceOver or Ask To Turn On VoiceOver, you can easily access an automated reader. Open up an iBook or any text on your iDevice and turn VoiceOver on. Afterwards, take two fingers, tap on one of the lines of text and swipe down. It might take you a few tries and probably not the best gesture for Apple to choose, but hey, it's all we've got. Once VoiceOver starts reading to you more than one line at a time you know you've got it down. This feature will also turn pages for you so there's no need to have your device out. The automated reading is pretty fast and understandable, though it did take a few pages for me to catch on. This is great for slow readers or people who just want to listen to their book on audio. If you have a big reading project due with a ton of pages to read, also a perfect tool. Very satisfied with finding this feature, as a slow reader, it helps greatly. Comparison of Apple iBook G3 and G4
People often ask me the difference between the G3 and G4 iBook since they look so much the same. Here I'll show you all about it. The G3 has a tray loading optical drive (CD-ROM) where the G4 has a slot loading. The G3 has regular Airport (802.11b) where the G4 has the Airport Extreme (802.11G). Also the G4 has the faster USB ports for high speed devices. The fact that the G4 uses DDR memory instead of the older PC-100 style gives the entire unit better performance. So you can't afford a Macbook? Well, buy one of my refurbished iBook G3 or G4 systems, they are the next best thing.

"We're here at Apple's education-flavored event at the Guggenheim museum in New York City. Phil Schiller has just taken to the stage and announced the first half of Apple's platform that's going to "reinvent the textbook:" iBooks 2. Saying that there were 1.5 million iPads currently in use in Education (using 20000 specific apps), the revamped book-stand now includes education-specific features to help the budding students of the world. You'll be able to paw through content, stopping to flick through detailed 3D animated models of elements within, access video and definitions without leaving the page. VP of Productivity Applications, Roger Rosner said that "Clearly, no printed book can compete with this:" given the constantly-updated data available, that's kinda obvious. Still, you'll be able to read in a text-heavy portrait or picture-biased landscape mode and there's also the option to have random pop-quizzes appear to keep you on your toes. Annotations is an integral part of the system: you can add stickies to individual pages and aggregate them into virtual 3 x 5-inch note-cards for revision during finals. You'll also get the same purchase, download and re-download rights you enjoy in the company's other stores. iBooks Adding Interactive Widgets
I show how to add interactive widgets in iBooks Author that make electronic textbooks more multi media, exciting and interesting. I add a Dashcode widget and an interactive image. I also show off the Keynote presentation I added previously. In this latest of the Apple iBooks Author set of videos in which I review iBooks author and also show how to use the application, I show how to add an interactive image widget and also the adding of a Dashcode widget. In the later part of the video you will see a demonstration of me using the iBooks application on the iPad. It doesn't go completely smoothly, it takes more than the number of clicks that it should take to get the proof version of the book onto the iPad into iBooks. Then the Dashcode widgets which I had previously tried out and had worked perfectly, kind of broke. I show the way that you can navigate through an iBook on the iPad in iBooks and also how to view a Keynote presentation if there has been one embedded into the iBook. When you are creating one of these iBooks it really is necessary for you to understand how it works for the reader so that you can make sure that you have the chapters, sections and pages set out properly. Making good use of the styles that are available within the templates that Apple have provided is important although you can actually change some of the settings so that there are extra things in the contents of your iBook.
