The Hustle - Van McCoy & The Soul City Symphony (1975)
"The Hustle" was a hit 1975 disco song by Van McCoy & The Soul City Symphony. Van Allen Clinton McCoy (January 6, 1940 July 6, 1979) was an accomplished musician, music producer and arranger, songwriter, and orchestra conductor. He has around 700 song copyrights to his credit and is also notable for producing such recording artists as Gladys Knight and The Pips, The Stylistics, Aretha Franklin, Brenda & The Tabulations, David Ruffin, Peaches & Herb, and Stacy Lattisaw. While in New York City to make an album, McCoy was inspired to record what would become his most well-known song after his music partner, Charles Kipps, watched patrons do an elegant dance called "the hustle" at the Adam's Apple club. "The Hustle" was a huge international crossover hit. It reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot Soul Single charts during the summer of 1975. It would eventually sell over one million copies and is one of the most popular songs of the disco era. The song also won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance. Unfortunately, McCoy's life was cut short when he died from a heart attack in Englewood, New Jersey at the age of 39. Freddie and Junior are left owing Asian crime boss Toshiba Ohara and his spicy daughter, Han, $10000 ~ in seven days! The pair don't know what to do until they're mistaken for the Replacement Ministers expected at a struggling, run-down Baptist church during a pest call. They trade their Bug World outfits for minister robes and soon are inspiring the tiny but enthusiastic church into a fevered fundraising campaign. Freddie knows nothing about preaching, but his hilarious, straight-from-the-heart sermons seem to touch people and no one is more surprised than Freddie when his fake healings become real ones. Along the way, the congregation and community are forever changed, but not as much as Freddie and Junior themselves. The Hustle will warm your soul and tickle your funny bone.

DJay is a Memphis hustler who spends most days in a parked Chevy philosophizing about life while Nola (Taryn Manning), turn tricks in the backseat. He's not very good at pimping, but he can hustle almost anything or anyone and makes enough to keep himself and three girls satisfied and housed in his shotgun home. DJay however is in the midst of a midlife crisis| he quietly harbors dreams of becoming a respected rapper. When he learns from a local club owner, Arnel (Isaac Hayes), that rap mogul Skinny Black (Ludacris), is rolling through town, DJay decides to record his flow with the hopes of slipping his demo to Skinny. With little help from his friends and "family" DJay sets in motion the hustle of his life, and galvanizes the lives of those around him as they learn that "Everybody's gotta have a dream."

We played to our strengths...action! -The lightsaber hilts were made from sink faucets. Go to the plumbing section of any hardware store and see what they have, then get creative. PVC pipe should fit perfectly, though you may need to tape around the base so it fits snug and doesn't fly out and hit your friend in the face.
