Humboldt Dungeness Crab
Humboldt Dungeness Crab (Cooked in 14" Deep Camp Oven) Ingredients: 4 live or fresh dungeness crab 1/2 cup rock salt water Directions: Fill dutch oven with water & add rock salt. (If confined to cooking indoors, add 1 small jar of pickling spice - It will sweeten the meat and keep your kitchen free of fowl odor afterwards) Bring to a boil & submerge crab. Increase heat until water begins to boil again. Reduce heat & cook 15-17 minutes, uncovered or loosely covered. Remove crab from boiling water and rinse in cold water in separate container. Clean crab, crack meat & ENJOY!!! Humboldt Dungeness Crab Ciopinno (For 14" dutch oven) 4 or 5 crab ½ cup chopped parsley 2 stalks celery chopped 1 cup chopped swiss chard 8 cloves garlic chopped 2 medium onions diced 1 chopped small hot red chili or cayenne pepper (Optional) 2 -- 28 oz. canned crushed tomatoes 1 -- 6 oz. canned tomato paste 1 -- 16 oz. canned tomato sauce ½ cup burgundy wine (Optional, otherwise substitute with water) Saute onions and chopped garlic in oil. Add celery, chard and parsley and sauté until tender. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste and wine or water. Salt and pepper to taste. Add crab, making sure crab is submerged in ciopinno sauce, if not add more wine or water. Simmer at least 45 minutes with occasional gentle stirring to prevent sticking.

Coast Guard hazardous seas...Humboldt Bay
On October 22, 2009, Hazardous rough seas and a large ocean swell impacted the Pacific Northwest Coast. Two Coast Guard lifeboats were filmed doing training manuvers during this large wave event. There was also two tow in sufers out along with their jet ski campanions. The ocean wave heights were close to 18 feet. Humboldt Bay Pacific Style Bouillabaisse It was a howling Saturday in Humboldt as we met with our local Fortuna Dutch Oven Society friends for an early April DOG Here is our creation for the event where we break in our brand new Camp Chef 12" Dutch Oven. A special recipe follows which is based upon the famous French Fish Soup called bouillabaisse. We've used a variety of fish and shellfish, which are abundant in Humboldt Bay and the Pacific waters, to bring you a new type of Seafood Soup. Enjoy this stellar West coast version of Bouillabaisse, Humboldt style. (Sorry for the wind noise in the audio....it was REALLY blowing hard that day!!!) Ingredients: For the soup stock/building blocks of bouillabaisse 1 fennel bulb with a bit of the stalk and fronds 1 tsp. fennel seeds garlic sea salt (about ½ tsp. grinder style) ½ tsp. of peppercorn medley (grinder style) 1/8 cup of virgin olive oil (part for sauté and part for soup) 2 TBS. premium fish sauce (we used Thai Kitchen brand) 1 large yellow onion, peeling off and thick sliced 5-7 garlic cloves, crushed coarsely 3 medium carrots, each cut into 6 to 8 pieces 1 large leek (you will use the white parts separate from the green) 4-5 sprigs of parsley (flat leaf) 4-5 sprigs of thyme Old Bay Seasoning (comes in a tin) 2 cartons of Vegetable Broth 2-3 cups of water 1 ½ cups white wine** (dry) **We used a Humboldt County bottle from Lost Coast Vineyards (2009 Viognier) The season and your region will determine what kind of fish ...

Flat Track Heart Pictures presents Humboldt Roller Derby... like you've never seen it before: "Sock Derby" March 5th, 2011 at Franceschi Hall, Redwood Acres Fairgrounds HRD Redwood Rollers vs. Bay Area Derby Girls As Quoted On the Humboldt Roller Derby Site: On March 5, Humboldt Roller Derby had its first home bout of the 2011 Season against Reno's Battle Born Derby Demons and the Oakland Outlaws. Every bout combines sportsmanship, showmanship, skating talent, and hours of planning and preparation. Sometimes things happen that we can't control, though. While we prepared for rain on the outside of the building, we did not anticipate the reaction the cold weather and crowded building would have inside. During the first bout, condensation was making the track wet and unsafe for the skaters. After looking at several options, it became increasingly clear that the bout could not continue on skates. Our fabulous announcer Jason, with the support of the board, informed the crowd of the issue, but invited them to stay for "sock derby." With great spirit and humor, the Redwood Rollers and both visiting teams participated in a version of roller derby in socks -- offering a full night of derby fun. The fans went wild, and most stayed for the whole event. What could have been a disappointing night became celebration of the derby experience.

My Best Fried Chicken Recipe For Dutch Oven Cooking... HUMBOLDT COUNTY FRIED CHICKEN Dry Mix Ingredients • 1 cup all-purpose flour • 1 cup bread crumbs • 1/4 cup paprika • 1/4 cup sage • 2 tbsp. pepper • 2 tbsp. salt • 1 1/2 tbsp. garlic powder • 1 tbsp. ground mustard • 1 tbsp. thyme • 1 tsp. ground ginger • 1 tsp. ground oregano • 2 tbsp. Italian seasoning (Optional) Wet Ingredients • 4 beaten eggs • 1 qt. buttermilk • 12 large chicken thighs with skin on Gravy • Drippings • All-purpose flour • Water Directions Mix together dry ingredients and divide into two equal parts (Save one for later if possible) Mix together beaten eggs and buttermilk in large bowl Soak chicken thighs in wet mixture for one hour Place one part of dry mixture in a shallow dish or zip-lock bag Coat chicken thighs one piece at a time in dry mixture Place one entire chimney of briquettes under 16 dutch oven Place 1/2 olive oil in dutch oven and brown chicken on both sides in hot oil Remove chicken from dutch oven and drain oil from oven Place large trivet in bottom of dutch oven and return chicken to dutch oven Bake for one hour using one ring of coals under the oven and two rings of coals on the lid Remove chicken and trivet to make gravy Mix 1/2 cup flour with 1 cup water and stir into drippings using left over coals to simmer As gravy thickens continue stirring and add additional water or water and flour as needed. Save leftover seasoning & gravy... Makes great fixings for chicken fried steak.

After we got some of the Humboldt Hemp Wick from Coralfish for christmas they sent us a really cool glass dispenser and a couple rolls of Humbolt Hemp Wick. Zlouie123 sent us a cool grinder. It's also bigger than the one we use. We don't know what the triangle inside is for. Can anyone tell us? Somebody else sent us a handwritten letter. I have been in a similar situation so I know it may be difficult but I feel like the community would support his struggles. I have gotten a few messages like this on the internet and I think most of us know what it's like to be punished for smoking. Some day we will tell these stories to the younger generations about the history of prohibition and they will be amazed at the thing we went through to fight for our freedom. Non-violent North Coast Earth First! activists are pepper spray tortured by the Humboldt County Sheriff's Department of California, The tortured victims sued in federal court and won; officers are no longer allowed to use pepper spray as a torture device on non-violent activists. This horrible crime against these women was carried out from commands high within the Humboldt County Sheriff's Department, the same department has been accused of racism and injustice since the 1800's.

Humboldt Smoked Chipotle Baby Back Ribs
Humboldt Smoked Chipotle Baby Back Ribs Ingredients 2 - racks baby back pork ribs 1 -- 10oz. jar blackberry chipotle sauce dry seasoning of choice 2 -- cups cherry wood chips Directions (14"-16" dutch oven) Soak wood chips in water for 30 minutes. Place single layer of briquettes inside dutch oven. Place soaked wood chips over briquettes and insert elevated grill into oven. Cut each rack of ribs in half and place on grill leaving air gaps to provide oxygen to briquettes. Allow at least 1 hr. smoking time turning ribs once. Place another oven upside down over grill, acting as a dome to retain smoke, making sure not to cut off oxygen supply. (optional) Remove rib racks from oven and cut each rack into single ribs. Discard briquettes form inside of oven and place trivet inside oven. Place single ribs onto trivet and bake for 30 minutes, using one ring of briquettes under oven and one ring on lid. Brush chipotle sauce over ribs and bake for 15 minutes. Turn ribs, brush remaining side with sauce and bake for 15 minutes. Remove ribs from oven and ENJOY!!!
