What You'll Need --------------------------------------------------------------------- * Lightweight hairspray * Hair clips * Fine-tooth teasing comb Step 1: Add Volume Carefully --------------------------------------------------------------------- Before you begin, decide where your hair naturally needs volume. You don't want your head to look lumpy or unnatural once you've teased it. Look at your profile in a mirror and see where your head start to round towards the back. That's where you want to add the volume. Step 2: Section Your Hair --------------------------------------------------------------------- With your comb, separate the section you want to tease. Divide into 1/4 to 1/2 inch sections and clip all but one section out of the way. You should start from the back and work your way forward. Step 3: Spray and Tease --------------------------------------------------------------------- Grab your first section of hair and lightly spray it with hairspray. Hold your hair tight at an angle over you head. Starting about an inch above your scalp, pull the comb down through your hair in short strokes. This is a lacing technique that locks the teased strands of hair together, creating volume. Use a heat protector because no one wants split ends. Step two: divide your hair in three layers, leave the bottom layer down, like I did. Step Three: Use the wax, gum, or gel and use a small amount for each strand of hair, apply root to tip. Step Four: Take the small end of the comb and go up and down on your hair, basically teasing it, DUHH, then spray it with hairspray. and do these steps on each layer for all of the strands. Using hairspray and wax/gum gel will keep the hold better then using singled material. Then after teasing and stuff, sculp/mold your hair into the BIG poof or a small poof. Your choice. Also you can go back through and just randomly tease your hair in different places, and tease more what has already been teased(: Just like I did.

Hair Volume with no teasing
You could substitute showering and waiting for your hair to get damp with a bit of mousse. Make sure your hair is dry as possible before you pull the rollers out for the best results! Having shorter layers around the crown of your head also allows for lighter bouncier hair. Hope this helps! =) If you have long layers teasing and hairspray will probably be your best bet. I also used Tresemme's Heat Tamer Spray and the regular Chi Flat Iron.
