www.laser-gadgets.com www.facebook.com A FRACTION OF THAT BEAM WILL BLIND YOU INSTANTLY! Never point lasers at any kind of shiny surfaces, animals/humans... Made this one on request. Was sold before fabrication was started. FB my friend, hope you have as much fun with her as I did :) treat her well! Will be hard putting this in a box and ship it! This gun holds a q-switched Nd:YAG laser head. After charging the capacitors (takes about 4 secs.), it fires an intense 1 MW blast of invisible infrared 1064nm light! The pulse-duration is somewhere around 100ns...no chance to get the impacts with a normal camera. Never wield one of these without laser-glasses for 1064nm!!
5300 Homemade Dominoes
My brother Steve and I hand-cut and hand-painted 5292 wooden dominoes plus some bigger-sized blocks after efforts to find large amounts of professional quality toppling dominoes fell short. This is the result of about $100 worth of materials and a whole lot of man-hours. We were happy with the outcome. We tried several new stunts and although one of them failed to trigger, the course never needed to be restarted. For close-up photos of key stunts and explanations on how they work, visit www.mazeguy.net Thanks for watching! :)

Home Made $260 plasma cutter
Simple & powerful plasma cutter that you can build at home for under $300! It cuts up to 1/2 inch steel. This is what I made to cut sheets of 316 stainless for building hho cells. It makes cutting stainless like cutting butter. I found that 4x8 foot sheets of 316 cost only $150 so I needed a way to slice them up. Please be aware that there is an error in the schematic at the end which will keep it from working correctly. This video was made in a hurry. I will post some move videos with all the correct info if anyone cares. Engineers told me it was to hard to do and it would take them a year to design a plasma cutter. However, if plasma cutting was invented by accident during world war two then I knew I could do it on purpose. A home made torch head is super cheap, however I choose a replacement torch head because they have better air nozzle control and make a smoother cut; $125 of the price was spent on the "replacement" torch head. I have sold plans in the past, but really this is just to good of a tool to not let everyone know how to build one. So this is my gift to the DIY community.. Please note that in this schematic the inductor and water resistor needs swaping, otherwise it will not work!. The resistor can not be in the torch wire it must be in the work clamp wire.

Homemade Stirling Engine
A Stirling engine is a heat engine operating by cyclic compression and expansion of air or other gas, the working fluid, at different temperature levels such that there is a net conversion of heat energy to mechanical work. Like the steam engine, the Stirling engine is traditionally classified as an external combustion engine, as all heat transfers to and from the working fluid take place through the engine wall. This contrasts with an internal combustion engine where heat input is by combustion of a fuel within the body of the working fluid. Unlike a steam engine's (or more generally a Rankine cycle engine's) usage of a working fluid in both its liquid and gaseous phases, the Stirling engine encloses a fixed quantity of permanently gaseous fluid such as air. Typical of heat engines, the general cycle consists of compressing cool gas, heating the gas, expanding the hot gas, and finally cooling the gas before repeating the cycle. The efficiency of the process is narrowly restricted by the efficiency of the Carnot cycle, which depends on the temperature difference between the hot and cold reservoir. Originally conceived in 1816 as an industrial prime mover to rival the steam engine, its practical use was largely confined to low-power domestic applications for over a century. The Stirling engine is noted for its high efficiency compared to steam engines, quiet operation, and the ease with which it can use almost any heat source. This compatibility with alternative and ...
Homemade Forge - Making a Bushcraft Knife
www.naturalbushcraft.co.uk - This is my homemade forge that I made back in 2007 in order to make my very own Bushcraft Knife for the first time. The oil we used was NORMAL MOTOR-OIL. Taught & inspired by Greenpete's video's here on Youtube, thanks to him we have learnt how to make beautiful knives from old tools (metal working files). This is part of the process; Using our forge to heat the steel and then quench it in oil to harden the steel for strength. I documented the whole process of making my first knife at my website here: www.naturalbushcraft.co.uk Also credit to GreenPete for teaching & inspiring me by making his knife-make video freely avaliable online. I have written an article that helps you download & burn his knife-making DVD that he has made freely avaliable, see here: www.naturalbushcraft.co.uk Music by Spiro - www.spiromusic.com Track Featured - Glittering City ==================== Notes to Self: When first published: Views: 205772 Comments: 253 Video Responses: 4
Homemade 1.8kW Inverter-Generator
I built this a Generator a couple of years ago, because we used to have alot of power outages, and I didn't like what I saw at Home-less Depot and Lowe's. Used it several times for power outages, our Ham Radio club's annual Field Day, and places where there is no AC. Although it puts out only 1800W, its battery-Inverter arrangement allows the gen-set to run in silent-mode (engine shut down). I have about 500Ah extra capacity I can add, so at 1kW load, I can run on batteries for about 6 hours (conservatively), and about 10 hrs at 500W load, before the engine need to be restarted to charge the batteries. I found the engine, alternator, inverter, and generator frame, all new, all on eBay. The Alternator, in case you didn't hear in the video (lots of noise) is a 140A OEM unit, and the engine is a Briggs & Stratton 6.0hp vertical-shaft, electric start. Xantrex makes the inverter (a Pro-Sine 1800 with 12V input, hard-wired 120VAC output), and the frame was from a Coleman 6500 generator. Wheels are pneumatic, and the steering mechanism turns via custom-made brass fitting. The engine drives the alternator by a K-6, 6-rib serpentine belt. Engine pulley is 7.00" dia., and the alternator pulley is 5.00" dia., from an old Ford smog-pump. I am no longer seeking suggestions for a its name- I'll just call it my 1.8kW Inverter-Generator.

Home Made Water Filter
ON CHANGING THE FILTER MATERIALS - Please see the full answer below. This filter MUST be used with some chemical means or boiling to make the water safe. This filter is only the first step, a pre-filter, before chemical I get this question often, "How many liters/gallons before you have to change the filter elements?" The answer is not so simple, it all depends on what you pour into the top of the filter. If you are putting fairly decent, clear running stream water into the filter the activated carbon will last a long time. If you are filtering stagnant pond water not as long. The synthetic fiber wad in the top will get dirty looking after a few days and if there is a high quantity of algae in the water will slow the filter down. I carry extra fiber to replace that in the field. You can also remove the fiber wad and wash it out in clear water if it has large debris in it. I don't normally carry extra carbon pellets to replace them in the bush. They are very low cost, one carton of pellets will last for years. The bottom line, if in doubt change the pellets, we're talking about 5 cents worth of charcoal here. My general rule, if I have been using the filter often I change the pellets before I head out. This filter often gets used by groups of survival students and will easily filter enough water for five people over the course of four days. I don't always change the carbon after trips like that, again, it depends on what we had to filter. This filter MUST be used with some ...

HOME MADE TUBE BENDER
****READ THIS BEFORE COMMENTING***** (You probably won't, but anyway....) Home made tube bender made from a couple of belt pulleys and scrap steel. Doesn't look like much but works just fine. Build cost $10. I didn't NEED to make this tube bender. I didn't NEED to bend tube. I saw a video of a home made tube bender and thought I'd make one just for the sake of it, It will only bend aluminium tubing. It won't do large diameter tubing. You can buy proper tube benders cheap. This was just a bit of fun. I have only bent 2 pieces of tubing so far using this contraption. The one shown in the video and one before that. Hope that helps.

Upscale Bay Area home made from salvaged car roofs & windows
When architect Karl Wanaselja built his home in Berkeley, California the junkyard became his urban forest for materials. For months he visited one of three local yards looking for car roofs and Dodge Caravan side windows. The windows became awnings and the roofs became siding for the top floor of his home. Wanaselja designed the home with his partner (in business and life) Cate Leger. They liked the look of the old cars, but they also believe firmly that reusing trumps recycling. They reused more than just cars to build their home. The lower half is sided in poplar bark, a waste product of the North Caroline furniture industry. Exterior wood is salvaged redwood and the fences and windowsills are on their second life. Because they wanted to blend into the neighborhood as much as possible, Wanaselja and Leger played with perspective to create a home that looks small on the outside, but feels big on the inside. The home is only 14 feet wide on the ends, and it pitches forward and pinches in at the ends so from the street the home looks small. And it is just 1140 square feet- more than half the US average- and only 700 square feet on the ground floor. "It's kind of like Dr. Who's TARDIS. He's got this little phone booth, he goes in and then it's a giant space inside so it's kind of." In this video, Wanaselja and Leger give us a tour of their home, their car part shed and their shipping container architecture studio in the backyard.
