Starbase 1228 Home Theater
This Theater was recently finished this month (OCT 2010) and is based on a popular TV / Movie scifi series. Hey if you are traveling in space do it with style. It measueres 23' x 19' with a 9' ceiling. It consists of 3 KEF iQ 90 tower speakers for the front , 4 Bose 301 speakers for sides and surround , a Sony 12" sub tied into a Clark Tactile Transducer for the riser vibrating at 100lbs per watt from the subwoofer connection off the receiver. The receiver is a Sony 1000 7.1 surround tied into a Panasonic Blu ray / upscaling DVD player . The home computer and cable box are routed through the receiver which makes NFL sunday and Dancing with the Stars against a 120" screen very life like and the projector is razor sharp in color and contrast. Everything is operated through a LOGITECH Touch screen remote. The Projector is a Panansonic AE4000U LCD from the folks at VISUAL APEX.com along with their 120" screen kit. I reviewed and researched MANY projectors and this one will go toe to toe with the high end expensive / out of my budget units. Their screen kit is a solid performer. The frame is made of extruded 4" wide aluminum channel so construction was VERY simple and very sturdy. One person can easily build it but a screen this size you need two to hang it. The star ceiling (10' x10' octagon, square is boring) is an accurate Dec. sky with 1500 points of light and 8 shooting stars. The animated graphics in the back were made on my laptop and are accurated to the series. The ...

DIY Home Theater
I built this home theater in my basement, spending only about 300 dollars, plus the money for the projector. The screen, is made from white blackout cloth, stapled to a frame made of 1x4's that are covered in black cotton broadcloth. The backlighting for the screen is white rope lighting. I have a Harmony 650 controlling all of my components and the Lutron Maestro 600IR light controller to control the lights. If you have any questions please feel free to ask, I would love to help others achieve the wonderful dream of having a home theater! Good luck!
Home Theater Setup Update (Polk Audio RTi Series Speakers)
This is a video on my Home Theater Setup Update (Polk Audio RTi Series Speakers) So I have been using the RM6750 home theater set for a while now since I have sold the RM7300 & CS1. So now I just recently got the Polk Audio RTi4 Bookshelf & RTi8 Floorstandings. They sound much louder and look much better. I still have the center from the RM6750 though since I don't have any other center. I am planning to get a Polk Audio CS10 or CSi3. I will have to see but most likely the CS10 because of the price, but anyways here is what I have for now and if anything comes up I'll post another video. If you want to see the RTi series speakers please view my uploads. All other speakers I have had are also in my uploads. And Receiver is a Denon AVR-589 & the Sub is a Klipsch. If you have any questions or comments please let me know! Thanks For Watching!

[HD] DIY Star Trek Home Theater - Final Project Video
A woodworker scratch built a home theater for his wife (yeah, right!) This four minute video shows the end result of the construction of my home theater upgrade using the Star Trek Enterprise bridge colors (see construction slideshow video link below). Inspired (and copied) from "The Bridge Home Theater" of Gary Reighn. I am using an Optoma TX1080 1080p DLP Projector on a 120" screen. The LCARS displays are running from a Dell laptop. The sound system has 7.1 audio. Lighting is controlled by X-10. Four network connections interface the equipment with my home network. A Sony Blu-ray player is used for media, WDTV Live (Western Digital) is used for connection to 1TB hard disk and 5TB media server, the internet and streaming from the home network. This was a 10 week project completed Thanksgiving 2010. Phase 1 consisted of wall treatments (with star ports). Phase 2 included the projector, screen/ speakers, and Lcars displays. Phase 3 included the turbolift doors, lighting, and final details. This sequence was shot with a Canon HFS-100 and edited in Adobe Premier CS5. Yes, my wife is happy!
