Buddy Holly on the Arthur Murray Dance Party 12/29/57
Buddy Holly and the Crickets made an appearance on the Arthur Murray Dance Party on December 29, 1957. It was unusual to see a band like the Crickets performing on the show. This video includes the complete introduction by Kathryn Murray. Another interesting note...this footage is used on Dick Clark's "American Bandstand" compilations. Clark claims that the footage of the only appearance that Holly and the Crickets made on Bandstand in the fall of 1958 was destroyed in the 70s. They performed "Heartbeat". It's a shame that the footage was destroyed because it was Buddy's last appearance on TV before his death.

This beautiful song was written by Buddy Holly (though also credited to Norman Petty) and recorded with the Ray Ellis orchestra on October 21, 1958, at the Pythian Temple Studio in New York City. It was not released until March 1960, after Buddy Holly's tragic death, when it was included on the album, The Buddy Holly Story, Vol. 2, on the Coral label. The personnel on the track are : Buddy Holly: vocal; Al Caiola: guitar; Sanford Bloch: bass; Ernest Hayes: piano; Abraham "Boomie" Richman: tenor saxophone; Clifford Leeman: drums; Doris Johnson: harp; Sylvan Shulman, Leo Kruczek, Leonard Posner, Irving Spice, Ray Free, Herbert Bourne, Julius Held & Paul Winter: violins; David Schwartz & Howard Kay: violas; Maurice Brown; Maurice Bialkin: cellos. Though the sax solo is credited to Boomie Richman, some sources credit it to Sam The Man Taylor. Buddy Holly, born Charles Hardin Holley on September 7, 1936 in Lubbock, Texas died on February 3, 1959 in an airplane crash.

Alyssa meets holly after six months apart.
This is the moment that Alyssa met Holly having left her six months previously in Dubai. Holly was put up for adoption after her family had to return to the UK, however her adopted family abandoned her. By pure chance, Alyssas mum claudia was browsing a dubai website and saw an advert saying that Holly required a home and was close to being put down. Having now established them selves in the UK they arranged to fly Holly home and surprise thier daughter Alyssa. This is the reaction!!! Dear all, When we first uploaded this video it was originally intended for friends and family, however, we have to acknowledge that with 110000 viewings in six days, this has escalated beyond our immediate circle. "The Holly and the Ivy" is a traditional Christmas carol, which is among the most lightly Christianized carols of the Yuletide. "Holly and ivy have been the mainstay of Christmas decoration for church use since at least the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, when they are mentioned regularly in churchwardens accounts" (Roud 2004). Holly and ivy also figure in the lyrics of the "Sans Day Carol". Sir Henry Walford Davies wrote a popular choral arrangement that is often performed at the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols and by choirs around the world. European Holly (Gaelic: cuileann) was sacred to druids who associated it with the winter solstice, and for Romans, holly was considered the plant of Saturn. European Holly has always traditionally had a strong association with Christmas. Henry VIII wrote a love song Green groweth the holly which alludes to holly and ivy resisting winter blasts and not changing their green hue So I am and ever hath been Unto my lady true. An early book mentions the carol as well as a manuscript containing a more ancient song which is, or was, in the British Museum. The book was printed in 1823 and entitled Ancient Mysteries Described: Especially the English Miracle Plays founded on Aprocryphal New Testament Story extant among the unpublished manuscripts in the British Museum by the author, investigative journalist, devout Christian and former satirist, William Hone (1780-1842), and printed at 45 Ludgate Hill London.
