HIV Replication 3D Medical Animation

It is a very excellent animation which explains the hiv replication very clearly. For free download of this video please visit my webpage 3dmed.wetpaint.com And other 3D animation videos visit 3dmed.wetpaint.com Regards, Dr.Rufus The Lyrics of this video is here Targeting HIV replication The replication of HIV 1 is a multi-stage process. Each step is crucial to successful replication and is therefore a potential target of antiretroviral drugs. Step one is the infection of a suitable host-cell, such as a CD4-positive T-lymphocyte. Entry of HIV into the cell requires the presence of certain receptors on the cell surface, CD4 -- receptors and co-receptors such as CCR5 or CXCR4. These receptors interact with protein-complexes, which are embedded in the viral envelope. These complexes are composed of two glycoproteins: an extracellular gp 120 and a transmembrane gp 41 When HIV approaches the target cell gp120 binds to the CD4-receptors. This process is termed attachment. It promotes further binding to a co-receptor. Co-receptor binding results in a conformational change in gp120. This allows gp41 to unfold and insert its hydrophobic terminus into the cell membrane. Gp 41 then folds back on itself. This draws the virus towards the cell and facilitates the fusion of their membranes. The viral nucleocapsid enters the host cell and breaks open releasing two viral RNA-strands and 3 essential replication enzymes: Integrase, Protease and Reverse Transcriptase. Reverse Transcriptase ...

Did I Just Contract HIV? Signs and Symptoms of HIV

It's sometimes possible to recognize when you've recently contracted HIV from signs and symptoms such as fever, rash, or swollen lymph nodes. This video will teach you how to recognize signs and symptoms of primary HIV infection that are experienced by between 40 and 90% of individuals after they are first infected with HIV. Primary HIV infection occurs during the first few weeks or months after a person first becomes infected with HIV. Symptoms include rash and/or fevers, possibly in combination with one or more of the following symptoms: malaise (which is a general feeling of weakness, discomfort, and fatigue), loss of appetite, weight loss, a sore throat, sores in the mouth, joint or muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, diarrhea, fatigue, night sweats, nausea and vomiting, headache, or genital sores. The symptoms usually last from seven to ten days, and rarely more than two weeks. There is an incubation period of a few days to a few weeks between when the person was exposed to HIV and when the symptoms begin. If you have any of these symptoms and think there's even the slightest chance you might have been exposed to HIV, such as through recent sexual activity or sharing a needle, even with someone who you believe is HIV negative, you should see a doctor and ask to be tested for HIV. When you go to the doctor with any of these symptoms, it's very important to mention any risk factors you may have for HIV so they could test you. If you have ever had unprotected sex, even ...

Plight of Myanmar's HIV/AIDS patients exposed

As Myanmar opens up to the outside world, decades of neglect in areas such as HIV/AIDS treatment can no longer be hidden. Of the 120000 people living with HIV/AIDS in the country, only less than 30000 are believed to be receiving the medication they need. Around 20 thousand people die each year as the disease spreads throughout families. Al Jazeera's Wayne Hay reports from Yangon.

ONN HIV Black Women

New York, NY - Even with treatment advances, an HIV diagnosis can be devastating news -- as many Americans still consider it a death sentence. People who are in the health and social services professions are not immune from being paralyzed. "I just felt so much shame so much guilt" say Roxanne who did not reveal her last name. She worked in the welfare department of a major US city when she tested postive for HIV "I didn't want to share because I knew how I would be treated inside the field and out so I just kept it a secret." It appears the stigma of having the illness may be exposing more people to actually getting sick as a new study suggests the infections rates among black women in the US is five times higher than reported by the Centers for Disease Control. Russia's strategies 'failing' to fight HIV

Russia's HIV crisis is one of the worst in the world and the number of newly infected people has recently increased by 10 per cent. The rise in contractions, blamed much on drug usage involving shared dirty needles, occurred although the government doubled its budget for trying to stem the spread of the disease in the last two years. Critics say many patients are dying from the illness in the country because hospitals lack coherent and organised methods to treat them. They also say the government's strategies of trying to fight drug dependency are not working either. Neave Barker reports from Moscow.

HIV Transmission Breakthrough

In 2011, UNC's Dr. Myron Cohen and his team made a major research discovery in HIV prevention. Early results of HTPN 052 suggest that sexual transmission of HIV can be virtually stopped if the infected person is treated with antiretroviral medications fairly early. Science magazine named it the 'Breakthrough of the Year' in their Dec. 23, 2001 issue.

Justin's HIV Journal: Justin gets his degree and is accepted into Graduate School

The one things about having HIV/AIDS is that you really don't think about what you want to accomplish because some of us lose hope, but I'm here to say DO NOT LOSE SIGHT OF YOUR DREAMS!!!! Just because you have HIV/AIDS doesn't mean you have to slow down. You should keep moving forward, keep living, keep loving and definitely keep laughing. It took me a while to get my degree, BUT I finally got it. I had my Associates Degree from Axia College in Communications. My family has always put an importance on having a degree, and sometimes I've felt like I've disappointed them. Now I have another reason to make my family proud but more importantly to make me proud. My husband is also the driving force that has helped me get where I am with my education. So knowing this I had no choice but to go for my Bachelor's Degree. It means a lot to me that I earned this degree. But now that I'm on a roll I will not stop. Graduate School here I come. I plan on going to get my Master's in Public Health from Walden University. My classes start in June and I'm so excited and nervous at the same time. This was emotional for me because when I was diagnosed getting my education was the last thing I would ever think of doing. BUT you have to stay strong and go for your dreams DO NOT STOP

My HIV Journey: My letter to HIV

Justin B Terry Smith is introducing the "Write A Letter to HIV Campaign" Many of us that are infected with HIV often do not address HIV. I've decided that we need to whether you are HIV negative or positive; this letter is meant to encourage and empower. If you're infected or affected by HIV, I'm asking that you write a letter and then videotape yourself reading the letter aloud. If you don't want to video tape yourself you can send in a picture of yourself or something that represents you. It helps sometimes to get your feelings out, whether you've been recently diagnosed or have been living with HIV for a long period of time. Justin is asking everyone -- including his fellow bloggers and others that don't have a blog -- to join me in this campaign, You can view my letter to HIV by clicking here for an example of what I'm talking about. Like I stated above if you don't want to make a video you don't have to; a simple letter will suffice. You can also send a picture of yourself. Entries will be posted in a series on the www.body.com which will later on be put on my website www.justinbsmith.com. Send your letters and video embedded code/links to mylettertohiv@gmail.com. PLEASE JOIN Justin IN EMPOWERING YOURSELVES IN THIS FIGHT AGAINST HIV/AIDS!

'Breakthrough' drug hailed in HIV prevention

The drug Truvada may not be a cure for the HIV virus, but doctors have called it a major breakthrough in the fight against the spread of HIV and AIDS. Clinical trials have shown that, if taken daily, men can reduce the chances of contracting the virus by 44 per cent. An estimated 1.2 million people suffer from AIDS in the US, and advocacy groups say Truvada is a significant success in the battle against the disease. Al Jazeera's Andy Gallacher reports from Miami, Florida.
