A History of the Sky

This is a year-long time-lapse study of the sky. A camera installed on the roof of the Exploratorium museum in San Francisco captured an image of the sky every 10 seconds. From these images, I created a mosaic of time-lapse movies, each showing a single day. The days are arranged in chronological order. My intent was to reveal the patterns of light and weather over the course of a year. This video is designed to be viewed in a large format, so it's best viewed in full-screen mode at 1080p. More information on the project site: www.murphlab.com And my recent blog post: www.murphlab.com The music is "Aerial" by Moby, from www.mobygratis.com (royalty-free music for independent filmmakers).

Setting History Free: Graham Hancock & David Wilcock

Bringing together two inspirational investigators of our hidden past and uncertain future, this unique dialogue between David Wilcock and Graham Hancock takes us on a roller-coaster ride through the wonders of ancient civilisations and into the mysterious nature of reality itself. What is the Ark of the Covenant? Why is its loss the greatest riddle of the Bible? Has its final resting place been found? What do the Great Pyramids and the Great Sphinx of Giza teach us? What was the function of the Osireion and other awesome megalithic sites of unknown origin found throughout Egypt? Were the high knowledge and magic of ancient Egypt brought to the Nile Valley by the survivors of an earlier civilisation around 12500 years ago at the end of the last Ice Age, an epoch referred to in the Book of the Dead as Zep Tepi, "The First Time"? The possibility of a great lost civilisation Atlantis by any other name was the focus of Hancock's book Fingerprints of the Gods and the dialogue considers the evidence for this exciting idea -- including out-of-place artefacts and technologies, ancient maps of the world as it last looked more than 12500 years ago, and the mysteries of the Mayan calendar. Is it a computer for calculating the end of the world? Or do its prophecies of a great change to come speak to us of a joyous rebirth of human consciousness after 21 December 2012? Join Hancock and Wilcock as they discuss Angkor in Cambodia, Baalbeck in the Lebanon, underwater ruins submerged by ...

History Channel: Ancient Drugs

Ancient Drugs Join Dr. Andrew Weil and other leading physicians and scholars in this often-surprising look at the long history of drug use in different cultures worldwide. Since mankind's beginning, in every civilization, human beings have found ways to alter their consciousness in search of something "greater" than everyday reality. To this end, we have indulged in and experimented with all manner of frightening, toxic, even potentially lethal substances, in many different rituals. ANCIENT DRUGS delves into mankind's psyche in search of the key to our pervasive drive to experience something "beyond." Psychologists and physicians, including Dr. Andrew Weil, world-famous author of the bestselling Spontaneous Healing, offer insight into the physical and mental mechanisms and motivations behind this universal desire. Historians and spiritualists explore the ancient rituals of cultures worldwide that have sought visions and truth through altered consciousness, and illuminate the terrifying, exquisite visions that are revealed to those who journey beyond the constraints of the conscious mind.

The History of Nintendo - Brawl in the Family

This is Brawl in the Family's 400th comic, The History of Nintendo! Drawn, sung, and written by Matthew Taranto. Video edited by Sarah Williams (the soon-to-be Mrs. Taranto!) Dates used are generally referring to the US releases, although I did cheat a bit with Pokemon not being a Game Boy Color game...but hey, that's really what was carrying the handhelds at the time! Some requested the final(ish) panel as a high-quality image, so here it is: brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com ~FULL LYRICS:~ V1: Just sit back and relax, my friend. Today's lesson won't take too long. And to make it more interesting, It takes the form of this nerdy song. The year is 1889, Before the accolades and awards. Nintendo got its start From making hanafuda cards. V2: For a century, they grew and planned To discover just what sells. Making vacuums and Ultra Hand And love testers and love hotels. But they soon zeroed in on games Like the Game & Watch and Color TV. In '81, they made Donkey Kong, And the rest is history. (refrain) This is the history of Nintendo. Spanning the years, hanafuda to Mario... Straight from Kyoto, with a guy named Miyamoto, This is the history of Nintendo. V3: 1985: Future stars like Link and Samus, and portly plumbers hit the scene. '89: All our mothers took our Game Boys to play Tetris on that tiny screen. '91: Super Mario World taught us we could fly while riding dinosaurs. '94: Virtual Boy had us seeing red, returning systems to their stores. (bridge) '96: Let's-a go with ...

A Lamp In The Dark:untold history of Bible ~ Full Film

This exciting video unfolds the fascinating "untold" history of the Bible, revealing critical information often overlooked in modern histories.Order DVD @ www.adullamfilms.com (PLEASE WATCH MY DEVIL VATICAN Series at this LINK)www.youtube.com Donations to Adullam Films at www.adullamfilms.com If you are so inspired, you may support our ministry with your prayers and financial support. Enter into a world of saints and martyrs battling against spies, assassins and wolves in sheep's clothing. Throughout the Middle Ages, the Papal Inquisition forbade biblical translation, threatening imprisonment and death to those who disobeyed. Learn the stories of valiant warriors of the faith, such as John Wycliffe, William Tyndale, Martin Luther, the ancient Waldenses, Albigenses and others who hazarded their lives for the sake of sharing the Gospel light with a world drowning in darkness. Once the common people were able to read the Bible, the world was turned upside down through the Protestant Reformation. The Reformers subdued whole kingdoms by preaching the grace of God, and exposing the unbiblical doctrines of Rome. In response, the Vatican would launch a Counter Reformation to destroy the work of the Reformers, including the bibles they produced. _____________________________________________________________ ABOUT THE PRODUCTION A Lamp in the Dark was filmed on locations in England and Belgium, and features never before seen interviews with leading Bible scholars, including David ...

The real names of our people were destroyed during slavery. CIA Archives: The Cuban Revolution - Documentary History, Causes, Summary (1960)

DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org The Cuban Revolution was a successful armed revolt by Fidel Castro's 26th of July Movement, which overthrew the US-backed Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista on 1 January 1959, after over five years of struggle. "Our revolution is endangering all American possessions in Latin America. We are telling these countries to make their own revolution." — Che Guevara, October 1962 Castro later travelled to the United States to explain his revolution. He said, "I know what the world thinks of us, we are Communists, and of course I have said very clearly that we are not Communists; very clearly." Hundreds of suspected Batista-era agents, policemen and soldiers were put on public trial for human rights abuses and war crimes, including murder and torture. Most of those convicted in revolutionary tribunals of political crimes were executed by firing squad, and the rest received long prison sentences. One of the most notorious examples of revolutionary justice was the execution of over 70 captured Batista regime soldiers, directed by Raúl Castro after the capture of Santiago. For his part in Havana, Che Guevara was appointed supreme prosecutor in La Cabaña Fortress. This was part of a large-scale attempt by Fidel Castro to cleanse the security forces of Batista loyalists and potential opponents of the new revolutionary regime. Others were fortunate enough to be dismissed from the army and police without prosecution, and some high-ranking officials in ...

Quantum Entanglement --- The history of quantum mechanics began essentially with the 1838 discovery of cathode rays by Michael Faraday, the 1859 statement of the black body radiation problem by Gustav Kirchhoff, the 1877 suggestion by Ludwig Boltzmann that the energy states of a physical system could be discrete, and the 1900 quantum hypothesis by Max Planck that any energy is radiated and absorbed in quantities divisible by discrete energy elements, E, such that each of these energy elements is proportional to the frequency ν with which they each individually radiate energy. Planck insisted that this was simply an aspect of the processes of absorption and emission of radiation and had nothing to do with the physical reality of the radiation itself. However, at that time, this appeared not to explain the photoelectric effect (1839), ie that shining light on certain materials can function to eject electrons from the material. In 1905, basing his work on Plancks quantum hypothesis, Albert Einstein postulated that light itself consists of individual ...

PBS Frontline Secret History of the Credit Card

In "Secret History of the Credit Card," FRONTLINE® and The New York Times join forces to investigate an industry few Americans fully understand. In this one-hour report, correspondent Lowell Bergman uncovers the techniques used by the industry to earn record profits and get consumers to take on more debt. "The almost magical convenience of plastic money is critical to our famously compulsive consumer economy," Bergman says. "With more than 641 million credit cards in circulation and accounting for an estimated $1.5 trillion of consumer spending, the US economy has clearly gone plastic." Millions of American families use their personal, general-purpose credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover to make ends meet; credit cards have been a discreet lifeline for families in financial straits. But other consumers, like actor and author Ben Stein, use plastic purely for convenience. While it would appear that Stein -- who says he charges a small fortune every month on his credit cards -- is the ideal customer, in reality, he is what some in the industry call a "deadbeat." That's because he pays his balance in full every month. The industry's most profitable customers, the ones being sought by creative marketing tactics, are the "revolvers:" the estimated 115 million Americans who carry monthly credit card debt. Ed Yingling, incoming president of the American Bankers Association, tells FRONTLINE that revolvers are "the sweet spot" of the banking ...

The Surprising History of Egypt with Terry Jones

Documentary that brings to light the little-known secrets and habits, manners and more of the common folk in the long-dead civilization of ancient Egypt. The program reveals that Egyptian women were on equal footing with men in all aspects of society, including wages and property ownership. Paper originated in Egypt, allowing for the development of the sciences, art and literature. These discoveries establish how attached to life the ancient Egyptians were and discards the supposition that because of their elaborate tombs, they were more focused on death and the afterlife. Terry Jones brings the everyday details of the ancients Egyptians - bizarre, hilarious or shocking - to life in this wonderfully entertaining and factually revealing film. Uncovering hidden gems such as the peculiar hobby of building and decorating one's own tomb as an enjoyable pastime and disclosing unknown facts on the integral part played by the River Nile in ancient life, Terry goes far beyond the conventional and brings to life the world of the ancient Egyptians through the more obscure eccentricities of their behaviour.
