Summer 2008 - 1: Highbury and Arsenal (HD)
Summer In The City 2008 kicks off at Highbury, an ornate part of north London with terraced houses built in beautiful Italianate villa style. I'll describe road names here so you can follow the journey using an online map if you desire. We start at the junction of Highbury Park, Highbury Hill and Leigh Road, looking north towards the village then at the tall Highgate Clock and church at this junction. We then walk down Highbury Hill looking the beautiful italiante villas with their former glory of big houses complete with servants bell. The camera pans 270 degrees finally pointing down Martineau Road (say hello to the telephone engineer - someone has to work!) and then at the giant 'ARSENAL' 3D letters in front of the walk from Drayton Park Rail station to the Emirates Stadium, new home of Arsenal football (soccer) team. The stadium is a giant complex, and comes complete with cannons. The military connection (the name, and the cannons present in the team emblem) is based on Arsenal football team's original location in Woolwich where military weaponry (including cannon balls!) were made. We leave the stadium and head down Hornsey Road to Holloway Road, taking a look at the tube station which was surfaced in tiles and opened in 1906. We then walk south along Holloway Road and look at the unusually shaped London Metropolitan University's "Graduate Centre" building designed by the internationally renowned architect, Daniel Libeskind, whose portfolio includes the Jewish Museum ...

Film by David Cawley (Blue Hippo Media) Alternative Dubstep Orchestra was conceived in November 2010 as an experimental collaborative project to showcase, unite and celebrate world class turntablists alongside world class musicians. By December 2010, the ADO performed as a collective for the first time and now play as residents of The Honeycomb Club, a monthly event in the heart of Birmingham, providing live dubstep with an orchestral twist. This video was filmed in the legendary Highbury Studio, Birmingham, which has become home to ADO rehearsals. The audio was recorded using a traditional reel-to-reel 8 track. This film features Alternative Dubstep Orchestra version of Cockney Thug by Rusko, as well as some samples of some works in progress. Before game: 65 points: Tottenham (4.th in League) 64 points: Arsenal (5.th in League) At the same time, West Ham were hosting Tottenham who had all to play for but West Ham on the other hand had nothing to play for. A win was meaningless to them in the sense that they wouldn't go higher up the table. Tottenham players appeared to be sick (some sort of stomach illness) and they lost the game that would have taken them in the first time to the champions league AND finish above Arsenal for the first time since 1989-1990 ! After game: 67 points: Arsenal (4.th) 65 points: Tottenham (5.th) :) Ps. During the West Ham and Tottenham game a certain Sheringham missed a really soft penalty for West Ham against his old club (surprise surprise)

A look at Highbury & Islington Overground station, two platforms are still being worked on for the terminating trains on the extension from Dalston Junction opening 2011. The platform numbering is a bit strange because of bringing old platforms back into use. You see platforms 1 & 2, 7 & 8. Also despite having similar looking trains the electrical systems are different to each other. Two platforms have overhead AC power & the other two have 3rd rail DC supplies.
