[1-5] #HMFC Hearts hammered Edinburgh rivals Hibernian to claim the Scottish Cup in a goal-laden Hampden final. Darren Barr stabbed home the opener and Rudi Skacel's deflected shot gave Hearts a 2-0 lead before James McPake pulled one back for Hibs on 41 minutes. Pa Kujabi's foul on Suso Santana led to a second booking for the former and a Hearts penalty, which was converted by Danny Grainger just after half-time. Ryan McGowan's header and Skacel's second rounded off Hearts' win. An eighth Scottish Cup triumph for the Tynecastle side, who had already qualified for the Europa League through the Scottish Premier League, ensures Hibs' long wait to add to their last win in the tournament in 1902 continues. And St Johnstone, who finished one place behind Hearts in the league, are also beneficiaries of the result as they too now qualify for Europe. Hearts, who left Craig Beattie on the bench and David Templeton out of the squad altogether, were forceful early on and Skacel, a scorer in the 2006 final, headed wide from Andrew Driver's cross. Kujabi was sent off on a miserable day for Hibs And Paulo Sergio's side moved into a 15th-minute lead with a scrappy goal from Grainger's corner. 20 years since Hibs were saved by Tom Farmer, I thought it appropriate to put this bit of footage up. Something for Hearts and Hibs fans here. The then Hearts chairman Wallace Mercer attempted to take Hibs over. The Hands off Hibs campaign was launched and the rest (as they say) is history. This footage appeared before the Hibs versus Hearts Edinburgh derby which was being shown live across the country on 1st October 1995. After interviews with Dave Mcpherson of Hearts and Michael O' Neill of Hibs we see an in teresting report looking back over the previous few seasons and the relative fortunes of Hearts and Hibs. Also included is footage of the interview that Wallace Mercer gave after his house had been attacked by (understandably) angry football fans. For the record Hearts went on to have the better season, getting to the Scottish Cup Final and narrowly missing out on 3rd place in the league. Scottish Cup glory would follow two seasons later for the men in maroon whilst Hibs would get relegated. Not quite the picture being painted by the report which stopped short of predicting the demise of Hearts. As for Hibs - they came back immediately and have consistently been at the right end of the table challenging for Europe over the past few seasons. The game ended 2-2. Copyright STV Group, SFA.

Credit to the Hobo support that decided to show up (all 1000 of them)...near the start of the match they were great at singing one word over and over for 5 or 6 minutes straight...but alas, and as per usual, they were very quiet for the balance of the match after the Famous scored the first goal and they stood silently in awe of the cacophony created by the Hearts support ;)
