Hibernian FC Relegated versus Dundee United (2nd May 1998)

Edinburgh Hibernian finally succumbed to the inevitable relegation on the 2nd May 1998. A season which initially promised so much finally delivered the ultimate failure. Jim Duffy's disastrous tenure had come to an end a few months earlier. Alex McLeish took over and almost saved Hibs but unfortunately they just ran out of games. Ayr United vs Hibernian-2012 Build Up

On the 6 March 2012, Hibernian return to Somerset Park for the Scottish Cup Quarter-Final tie. Last season the Edinburgh side were put to the sword by Ayr United, when a Mark Roberts 'cork-screw' goal was the difference between the two sides. The prize of a victory is a Semi-Final appearance at Hampden Park, The Honest Men have already visited Hampden in the League Cup and hope to make a second appearance of the season. The most famous match between the two clubs was ten years ago in the Scottish League Cup Semi-Final at Hampden, Ayr United won 1-0, by an Eddie Annand penalty kick, won by John Robertson, who has now rejoined Ayr for a third spell.
