Inspirational Skateboard Video Parts From The Past. When I skated back in the late 80's into the 90's, one of my favorite things to do before heading out, was to watch a scene or scenes from a skateboard video, you know, for a little pump up. I decided to compile some of my favorite moments from some of the old vids. "Shackle Me Not" is my all time favorite skateboard video. So I will more than likey post more clips from it. This was the first skateboard video I ever bought and I watched it religously. This was just going to be Matt Hensley's section, but since the opening credits are just before it, I added them too. Plus the intro is just badass. I love this video. It was this period that I had the most fun skating. There was a different vibe back then. Matt Hensley has always been one of my all time favorite skaters. He's also in one my favorite bands, Flogging Molly.
Matt Hensley: Pro Skater
Many of you are likely to have heard of Matt Hensley because of the Celtic Punk Rock band, Flogging Molly, for which he plays the accordion and the concertina (both of which are equally as annoying when played alone). The band seems to have some odd connection to skateboarding and the skateboarder's way of life, yet no one really seems to know why... until now! I'm clearly kidding, many of you know who Matt Hensley is, and knew who he was long before Flogging Molly ever started Flogging the Molly, but a lot of younger kids haven't made the connection quite yet, so let me walk you through it. Matt was an influential skateboarder in the late 80's and you can see him in many videos of that era including, Shackle Me Not, and Hocus Pocus, both of which are H street videos, and I'm sure they're on Youtube somewhere *hint*. Hensley left the world of professional skateboarding in 1990 to pursue a career as a paramedic in Chicago (skateboarding for a living was more difficult then) and eventually started playing the accordion, and met the guys from Flogging Molly. He then joined the band in 1997 and they went on to make sweet sweet music... well... as sweet as Celtic Punk Rock can be anyways. Hensley took a brief break from the band in 2007 and opened up a pub/ live music venue where he plays lots of music from the 40's as well as cultural Irish music. He's back in the band now and also on Black Label's legends team (told you he was influential) which may be part of the reason ...

It was the video premiering party for upcoming artist Lewis Hensley in "OUT OF CONTROL". This was the first time something like this has ever been done in the Michigan area. The red carpet event, was a spectacular display of elegance and class. This was Lewis Hensley's night to shine and take in and enjoy every moment of the excitement in total bliss.There were special guest and companies OXY Water, Tequila Cuatro Cirios, TandB Films, The Project Theater Company, Uneek Collection, STRAW Management, Soul Smooth Record, just to name a few. The audience in attendance was over 200 plus and enjoyed every minute of the dazzling performance.
