RC Helicopter FISHING! Dave tries hand at "Heli Fishing"
For you skeptics who say the fish was dead, I assure you it wasn't dead. That said, I still risked my E-Flite Blade 400 for some entertainment for you (I used 3 batteries, hence the cut) as fun and challenging for me. I doubt most others would risk their $450 heli just to hover over the water, let alone dangle a line! This scenario shows it may be possible to use the Helicopter for fishing, however it would be expensive fishing. It is always terribly windy here, so on this calm day, those simple waves in the water was of no concern to a sunfish! It also helps to have lots of fish, like in our Sand Pit Pond where they bite on hooks with no bait! (actually I used fish eggs and the hook 24" from the bobber. Hey, you never know, if you don't try! ***Caution from past experience*** If the Tail rotor hits the water even slightly, it will immediately cause a crash. Big fish can drain batteries fast. It takes and hour to charge between flights of only 6 minutes, so this could be a long process to catch a fish. Sunfish are not big fighters. Fly easy and thanks for watching. One of the best helicopter flying shows I have ever witnessed, amazing pilot skills and a real element of risk. Back in 1990 free entertainment was very different to today. Heli Test/training stand. by Dave Herbert. Parts Required: 1, 24"x 24" plywood to make base circle. 1, 24 " long by 2x2" wide foam insulator strip (cut to 2x2x2" squares 1, ¼ x 21" round Ramin Wood sliding rod. 1, ¾" x 24" threaded galvanized pipe (Needs to be heavy), so the reason. 1, ¾" floor flange with 4, 1 ½"x 3/16" long nuts and bolts to attach it to Ply base. 1, 3/8" x 2 ½" Stove bolt (round head, no slots), 2 large 3/8" washers and 2 3/8" Nuts 2, 3 ½" long x ¾" wide, light weight compression springs 1, ½" Long x 1/8" wood screw 1, 5/16 small holed (1/4") washer for spring contact point on the bottom of the rod. 1, 3"x 8" x 3/16" ply or other strong material for helicopter base mounting plate. 2, ¾" Hose clamps for Ramin wood rod. 1, 1" Hose clamp for galvanized pipe 1, ¼" x 2 ½ " long Flat Headed shoulder bolt for holding mounting plate to Ramin rod 1, 12" long mini bungee cord 8, # 60 rubber bands, 4 each side to mount heli landing gear to plate. 1, 12" long nylon "chalk" string to make safety harness. Loop over heli frame and mounting plate. Take your time and follow these instructions carefully. 1. Measure for exact center of the 24"x24" Plywood base and cut out as large a circle as there is wood. Sand and paint or stain as desired. 2. Drill out the center hole to 3/8" and bolt in the 3/8" x 2 ½" stove bolt, (round head down towards floor). Use wide washers and nuts on both sides to adjust the length on the bottom to be 1 ½" out from wood, if using 2 x 2 x 2 ...

Worlds smallest One-man Helicopter GEN H-4 by ADEYTO
ADEYTO meets 75-year-old Gennai Yanagisawa, who runs an electronics equipment company in Matsumoto, central Japan, has created a 75kg (165-pound) one-man aircraft which sets the world record for the smallest helicopter. Gen Corporation, the company employee Yasutoshi Yokoyama flies in the air by GEN H-4, a compact single-seater helicopter developed by Gen Corporation, during its test flight in Matsumoto in central Japan's Nagano Prefecture. Yanagisawa developed the GEN H-4 helicopter — with rotors, a chair, footrest and handle bar — in the late 1990s. Yanagisawa's helicopter is the smallest model in the world in terms of weight and its rotor length of 3.9 metres. The GEN H-4 has two rotors turning in opposite directions to maintain stability, and four engines that enables a 30-minute flight with a top speed of about 56 miles per hour. The helicopter has two identical rotors that turn in opposite directions making the need for a tail rotor obsolete. Each rotor counteracts the others torque keeping the helicopter free of any unwanted spin. Controlling the GEN H-4 is very easy.If you wanted to go forward, you would pull the control bar toward you. If you want to go to the right, you would move it to left, and want to go left, move it to right. Of course you can reverse the helicopter. you only have to push it forward. Sikorsky X2 Technology helicopter achieves 250kt - Sep 2010
Sikorsky video of the Sep. 15, 2010 test flight during which its X2 Technology coaxial-rotor helicopter demonstrator achieved its 250kt speed goal. Conventional helicopters cruise at around 150kt. The X2 reached 260kt in a shallow dive as is expected to exceed 250kt in level flight once a sail fairing is fitted between the upper and lower rotors to reduce drag further. X2 uses a single T800 engine to power both the rotors and the tail-mounted variable-pitch propeller, which provides forward thrust to enable the high speed. Other technologies include fly-by-wire flight controls and active vibration control. As the video opens you see a full-scale mockup of Sikorsky's proposed X2 Light Tactical Helicopter in the hangar.

DYNAMIC HELI STABILIZERS & GYRO Failure!
Dynamic Stabilizers (simply put) direct the down flow of the air from the main rotor in such a way as to make the heli fly faster in forward or reverse flight, inverted or not. They really smooth out the flying and even make it go quite a bit faster in forward flight. I was skeptical at first, but Xraptor10 has a patent pending on these stabilizers for RC helicopters. ( www.youtube.com ) It could change the entire heli scene, as I see it. Second, I had an in-flight GYRO failure. One side was not returning fast enough, so I completely eliminated the gyro and plugged the Tail rotor servo directly into the receiver to check it to make sure the servo wasnt the problem. In fact, it is a failed gyro. But still wanting to take advantage of the low winds (8-12 MPH) today, I flew it without the gyro. I wonder how I ever did it with out it in the pioneering days, cause the tail is so much more sensitive. I reduced the tail rotor throw, and was able to fly the dynamic stabilizers anyway for a second flight. I am impressed. Thanks Xraptor 10. Im sure this is a winner. I put my approval stamp on it. Xheli's Esky 900 R/C helicopter's first 3D flying test with 14.4 v and 18.5 v battery!
This is an assembled "Bare Bones" Helicopter from Xheli.com. That means you must choose and buy your own RC equipment. I chose the Raiden 1620Kv motor for this machine. I must say, it is more than ample! If you use the same, make sure you know how to handle the power and not overdo it. Always searching for an electric helicopter with some weight and mass to handle our winds, I have begun exploring the 500 class helicopters. In this video, I give a look at the Esky 900 helicopter actually flying in those winds. The ES 900 is a fantastic flying machine, when set up with the pitch and throttle curves I developed on my test stand. I have videos on my test/training stand and how to make the pontoons. Search Stealth Helicopters and for NightFlyyer's Helicopter training/test stand to see my videos on the subject. The Esky Helicopter feels good and solid for sure and I am quite impressed, since this helicopter only cost $139. I used the 14.4 battery for the first test flight, and the 18.5 volt battery for the 3D flights. I recommend the 14.4 battery, because it runs longer and the extra power of the 18.5 is not necessary, however I like the extra weight of the bigger battery. Also, you need a charger that can charge an 18.5 v, 3000 Ma, 5 cell LiPo, so that is a consideration. I really like flying this heli, as it it really easy to see for this 62 year old's tired eyes, and handles the wind very well. I like the white wooden blades, and their sound. It was so extremely cold on the glacier that I only managed 2 minutes outside the helicopter. After that I tried to shoot the rest hand-held from inside the Bell LongRanger. We got around 15 minutes of film time over the volcano and then we had to turn back. The light was disappearing and the pilots needs visual references to fly. I edited the video in the helicopter on the way back to Reykjavik. I didn't even have time to watch what I edited because I had to get it out to broadcasters asap In the taxi from the airport I figured I would put this on YouTube and VIMEO to show to potential buyers of the footage. To make sure no one would take the footage without permission I put "Helicopter.is" on it and added music from my friend and Hollywood composer Veigar Margeirsson. Now that I watch it 5 days later for the first time I see that the music fits perfectly. It makes me want to watch the whole thing till the end. The only thing you can hear on the original soundtrack is the motor of the Bell LongRanger and distorted wind noise as the wind hammered my microphone.
